Finding Gold? Advice needed
« on: April 03, 2006 - 03:25:24 PM »
I am lucky enough that I live in the woods in Oregon. Over the coarse of a few years, I have griped many times that there's no hot rod opportunities way out here in the backwoods sticks. EBay and Craigslist ads for classic Mopars seem to never be anywhere around where I live; but the other day; I took a different route into town; and I couldn't believe my eyes! Here's a couple of pics of what grabbed my attention.
Now here's where I need the advice. I wrote a letter to the address where this car is located; playing real dumb. I wrote; "I am fixin up a old Dodge and am always looking for old Chrysler cars for parts;Would you be interested in selling your old Dodge/Plymouth? I didn't want to knock on the door and invade your privacy; so I thought I'd write. ......" Blah blah blah.   and gave them my phone # and address and e-mail. Before I send it out; I was wondering if any of you had a good "line" to score big deals with classic cars knowing that alot of times; people don't even realize what they have!

IMO, I think you've done pretty well with what you have, I can;t think of anything else you'd want to add.
You don;t want to be to over the top, they might figure out and think your trying to kiss a$$.

Anyone else....

Good luck mate, those photos are cool....

Man that car looks pretty good from here!!! I have no advice, but at least let them know you are interested. Cash in hand doesn't hurt either.

It's one of those circumstances that you gotta find the balance point with ya know?  :clueless:  :dunno: If he DOES know what he has; he'll be real insulted if offer him $200 for it. (Or he'll insult me on right on the tip of my nose!) :swear:

That is one heck of a find.  I hope all goes as planned.  It doesn't look like the car is in bad shape either, this might be your lucky year!!!  Don't forget to let us know what happens!  GOOD LUCK!

or...he decides that he doesn't want to sell it to a guy that sounds like he's going to part it out. Good luck.

Good find!  I'm close to you and can help you if needed.  I have no problem knocking on doors.

I can also assure you that I have no interest other than to help you save a mopar. :working:
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

I was kinda wonderin that myself. The view through the camera is better than with the naked eye. I'll be sure to take note if the guy invites me over to look at it and negotiate a deal.
