Well, in the local junkyard, there is an 80s Dodge truck.  360/727 combo.  I can get that combo for less than $600.  Problem is, I don't have the money right now.

Wow your yard is exxxpeennsiivvee. mine wants $150 for a complete motor, cant imagine a trans being much more.  :faint:

My car pulled an 8.2@82mph in the 1/8. That was without a full first gear (shift linkage was out of adjustment) I didn't hit the go button either which is good for another 125 ponies.
Mopar or no car

I was just in a 2007 Jeep Cherokee SRT8 down the 1/8 mile in the low 9's.  That was awesome for a stock vehicle!!  Blew away a bunch of ricers and also the new Chebby Trailblazer that was talking S**t for a month.  Oh yeah, blew it away all FOUR times down the track!!! hehe

I don't think we're that expensive, your yard is just dirt cheap.

Well not on a lot of things. Sucks that a 1bbl carb is just as much as a 4bbl. $45  :villagers:

I'd have to say my ex-brother-in-law's CBR600 F1.  I took it for a spin and let's just say it went from 0-80 mph like nothing. :faint:

I took the convert down the 1/4 at 14.7 but the quickest I've gone is 12.1 in my buddies Typhoon.  He has had it way down in the 11's though.  Who would have ever thought an s10 Blazer could move like that.  those things are fun to drive...(even in The RAIN)

Hmmm...never been timed on a track.

Quickest car under full acceleration probably 2006 Corvette/GTO/Cadillac CTS-V.  They all felt really nice!
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

High 8's @ 155 mph in the 1/4 in a BB Mopar powered door slammer, very easy and deceptively smooth, even first time at bat !
Went faster in a Blown 7.50 index Car(Blown Cheb) I tried once, but shook the tires hard, went sideways at halftrack and bailed on the run.
That was enough !
Seems I also shook some "poo" loose in my shorts !
Stuck with street driven/bracket stuff @ high 9/low 10 stuff after that !

Got offered a try at a TAFC once, for a licensing pull, politely declined as a chicken. The "SHAKY POO" experience was enough. You don't actually steer those things, everything looks "fuzzy", you more rather just try and keep 'em "pointed" until past half track, at least that was MY experience !

( "Yabut, there was these guys throwing Frigg'in banana peels on the track")

I have a good friend, who still actively drives Top Alcohol Funny Car, well into his late 50's. But, he's been at it for years and is VERY good, NHRA Divisional winner many times, who says, ANYBODY can do it, it's EASY!
I DISAGREE !
However, another friend of mine, purchased, and jumped into a TA Dragster, with NO prior experience, and during one of his first halftrack "licensing" runs, broke the rules and went full track, lifting only towards the end, clocking a 6.90 !
That guys got balls ! Just proves some people "got it", and some don't, namely ME !  (That, or as I prefer, "Yabut, the guys throwing the banana peels weren't there that day".)

I'll stick to setting valve lash, Dumb looks, critisizing, and drinking BEER !

Easier to SEE, and my shorts stay cleaner !

I had a '63 Valiant that went 10:60s but I was not the driver so that doesn't count.
( I still have the engine/trans out of that car though)

The quickest I ever went was 12:41 @ 106mph with a 1.60 60 ft time. That car was built to run in that bracket consistantly and not for all out power.  It is a '72 'CUDA 340 4speed car but I had a 360/904 combo in it with 4:56 gears.

In storage now......

10:05 in my Arrow/ Daytona IROC.   I had a dominator carb that I couldn't put on it due to the 9.99 rule changes.  Once you hit it you turn Pro and the rules change.  I was just in the Super pro bracket and was only interested in Dialing-in an accurate time, setting my crossover delay box, and cutting a good light.  Made it to 8th place, out of about 300, at the Mopar Nationals one year and made $250.
