Dear Mopar Gurus:

What is this car originally?  What do you think of this car?  Humor me, please; I am green. 8)

From my understanding, the Dart doesn't even exist with a 318 in '68.  But again I can be wrong.

The owner claims 350 HP on the car; I don't really buy it.  I still think it's a nice toy, though.

What do you guys think of the overall package and the price ($4500)?

Now I am tempted ....

sorry about that i thought you were thinking about
buying it.yes its possible but he would have to do a little
more to the motor then he said .like better heads(bigger
valves)bigger pistons & so on .as far as darts thay are
ok . i allways liked the way the gts looked .i don't know
if you remember a show called mannix  came on late 60's
early 70's but he drove one & then later a cuda i still love watching it today because of the old mopars.
but my favorite mopar is the e bodys (challenger & cuda's) i own a 1971 challenger r/t  440  their is something about working on it & having a cold beer
like the old days

Of course the E-bodies are nice! I love them and that's the reason why I am on this board right now.  However, an e-body in the same conditions as the Dart cost me at least 3x of the price easily.

I will still look for an e-body, but this can be my first Mopar, maybe  8).

BTW, about the VIN.

Does it say that it is a Dart or a Dart GT?
a Dart doesn't come with a 318, does it?  I understand that there are 3 levels of Dart: Dart, Dart GT, and Dart GTS.  Thanks.

in your vin # the 2nd letter tells you your series
if it was a GT it would have been a (p)  if it had
been GTS the letter would have been a (s)
i'm not up on my darts real good but yes i think
some did have the 318 i might be wrong i,ve been
wrong before .the information i,m getting this from
is from the front of year one catolog.but back to the
car eventhrough it is a clone it's sharp no rust
and it to needs a good home & somebody to love fpr it
like wash, waxing, & then get in her and drive and enjoy

Gentlemen,

Thanks for the kindly input and information.  I know that it is a clone, but I just want to confirm if the car started as a regular Dart or a Dart GT.

I talked to the owner today.  He set the reserve at $4,000.  The buy it not price is $4495.  The price seems quite okay for a GT, but rather stiff for a regular Dart (IMO).

He also told me that the flaw of this car is the top.  The car originally had a vinnyl top that was removed by the previous owner.  Whoever painted it didn't do a good prep, so the paint is corroding now.  However, there is no rust.

I am interested in this car.

Do you think I should proceed for this price or not?

Please advise as detailed as possible since the auction will end soon.

This could be my first Mopar 8).  I am excited. :D

if your heart is not in it 100% and you allways wanted
a    e body  then my advice would be to wate  your
dream car is out their! if you buy the car and then run accross the e body you'll fill badly.keep in mind any
car that is 30 years old you'll have to put money in
it from time to time and if you got one you don't really
love then that could turn to hate . thats when you can pick up good deals.i'm sure somebody out hear knows
or can keep their ears open for a good deal. i know
i will and if i fine one i'll let you know  . GOOD LUCK !
