Column or Floor shift.... how to tell?
« on: April 08, 2006 - 10:10:08 AM »
Is there a way to tell if a car came with a floor shift or column shift?  Here's the braodcast sheet info.... what does it mean?

STEERING COLUMN
2 5 1 F8 7 1 0 5

STEERING WHEEL
04 TT

HORN PAD
02 F8

Thanks!

Hey Cody,
The easy way to know it to look for the center console code. If it is not coded C16 then it would be a column shift car.

Good.     That helps a bunch, but what what do all the numbers mean?

I can assume the F8 is the green color..... but what about the rest of them?  Is there a way to find out what they mean without waiting for 8 months and paying $500 to Galen?

Yup, F8 is green. I have never been able to figure out the column codes, FY1 is asking around about it for you though. Send me a scan of the whole sheet if you like, the steering wheel and column can be determined other ways.

Is there a way to tell if a car came with a floor shift or column shift?  Here's the braodcast sheet info.... what does it mean?

STEERING COLUMN  - Sure it is 251 and not 215?
2 5 1 F8 7 1 0 5

STEERING WHEEL - Standard wood grain wheel, number is on back of wheel.
04 TT

HORN PAD - Standard pad in green.
02 F8

Thanks!

All the sheets I have are either 215 or 255.

251 X9 7105   Power   904 wo C16   Black   A01   Challenger

It looks like the ones that end in "5" are cars with A01.

215 is column for 3spd or 4spd manual.

251 is column shift column.

255 for automatic cars with floor shift.

Back to the original question Cody, your car is a column shift automatic.
