time to find another car that needs a front clip, motor&tranny, and an interior.

I would think the insurance company has got to Total your car, with that much damage.   Dont let them get away with lowballing you, take lots of before pics with you and start digging up all your receipts and start making estimates of how many hours you have spent on the car, and then itemize them.      Buy the car back after totalling.

I can about guarantee you that the insurance will lowball you. That car is fixable, but its gonna need all the rear sheetmetal and probably rear frame rails. actually, im pretty sure you would need those. I've fixed worse, and it was a pricy bill. so it might be better to just get yourself another car and put both of them together.

definately sue him though, at the very least he wont be able to get any sort of loans until he pays the settlement in full, which will probably be never. but its worth going after.

Remember, he didn't have full coverage. His best bet, which I didn't think of but JS27 did, is IF you have unisured motorist is to sue your own insurance company for the value of your car.

First and foremost, Im glad you made it out of there in relative good shape. Also, I am sorry to see that your car is so badly hurt....especially after spending so much money and time on it. If I were you I wouldn't hesitate on sueing this guy. Take him to small claims, plead your case, and with his driving record you're pretty much guarenteed to win. The bad part about small claims is that the perp doesn't face jail time if they fail to pay you, however if you follow up on your win you can make that guys life a reck until he does pay you. In all honesty, you are most likely going to be left with the sh!t end of the stick so pursue all options on making this guys life a living hell.

Holy Schnikies!  :22yikes:

Thank goodness you're okay, even if der Kuda isn't looking so good right about now.  I bet that crunch was the worst sound ever!

Of course, the dude didn't have insurance or a license or registration... ain't that always the way it seems to happen?  Man, that makes me want to re-evaluate my insurance coverage.... ?  :dunno:

NH is a state that does not even require insurance to register and drive a vehicle although you are supposed to show "financial responsibility" which is a joke so there are many in this state with absolutly no insurance coverage.I obviuosly carry uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage which everyone should consider having. It basically makes your insurance company pay for anything the other motorists insurance(if they have any)doesn`t cover, but where you only have liabilty on it I`m not sure it would work.

Glad you're ok, and able to walk away from the accident.  I would repair it, but that's mostly because finding another one would be a bigger hassle.  I think it's a testament to the way these cars are engineered to be able to withstand a hit that hard with really minor damage to the passenger compartment.

UGGGHHH  :crying: I looked at the pics, and sat there stunned  :22yikes: You could easily be fighting for your life, as well as your cars right now, so things could have been much worse, (I know, easy for me to say) but glad to hear you remained safe. Like a few others said, do what you need to do to get whatever you can for your unfortunate tragedy. Send a thank you to Geo for making a collapsable car. Scary sh!t to say the least. Best of luck man.

First.  Thank God you are okay and without injury.
Second.  I hate to see all that hard work and money go "down the drain" but I think your best bet is to part her out or..
Third. Exploit the E-body fever created by Barrett-Jackson and put what's left on E-bay!  Pull the motor and list it as a non-numbers matching Cuda with some body damage.  Say that it's easily repaired by a competent body shop and make sure to mention that a HEMI will fit!  Start bidding at $10k and see what happens! You might be able to recoup you loss completely if you play it right! :money:

This forum is my favorite place, you guys are the best.  I'll pursue every legal option I can.  By the way, my brand new gas tank was laying in the middle of the road between our cars.  A fireman on the scene asked if I went to church, because I must have had an angel.  They couldn't figure out how it didn't explode.

Yesterday I found one of his car parts, some plastic shield, laying on top of my console near the shifter.  Can you believe it flew through my rear window?

I'll hunt for some cheap daily driver of any kind to get me by.  I'll also start looking for a 70-74 shell with a decent frame.  I've gotta start turning a negative into a positive.  The freshly rebuilt 318 ran great, had only 600 miles on it, but what I really wanted was a 440, so after I get a frame I'll slowly, and with the advise of this board, learn how to put one together.

I guess the hard to swallow takeaway lesson from this is I'll build a beautiful car, take it out only once in a while instead of as a daily driver, and insure the hell out of it every step of the way.

If anyone knows of any shells at a reasonable price, please let me know.  Or just like all the kind posts on this thread, any advice on this situation is greatly, greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

OK...my wife, who did auto insurance for a long time, says that the "uninsured motorist" coverage is only linked to medical issues, and even then, there are lots of caveats to getting money out of your uninsured motorist coverage.

That is awful .......First I hope that you are well , you are harder to repair !!
As for the car anything can be fixed But it may be more cost effective to find another body to build on
