I'll try my hand at a joke:

You know, it's a good thing the media didn't get a hold of this accident.  Can you see the headline?

One thing I noticed in the photos, NO INNER FENDERWELLS.  Other than that, you might have to do some suspension work as if it was strip, the suspension may be toast or too soft fo the street.
Make sure that the panels on the car are all steel and no fiberglass.  Most strip cars I looked at had some fiberglass, no real glass windows, interior was hacked and suspension was beat. From your last car, I know you have the skills needed to bring this back.  Good luck

I'm sure you're right on the money.  The pic shows the hood has 4 pins, so I'm sure that's fiberglass.  I don't know if my 73 Cuda hood would fit or not, or even if the carb is too tall, but no biggee, I'll find out in time.

The side and rear windows are not glass, but I hope I can put my 73 side window glass in, then I just need to hunt for a rear window.

Interior is hacked, but I can try to put my 73 interior in there for now, and restore it in time.

They said it had a fiberglass front.  I wonder if they meant the hood only?  Reason I ask is is the fender shows a small dent, and the best of my knowledge, fiberglass doesn't dent, it only cracks.  Do you think the fenders are metal or fiberglass, based on the pic?  Thanks.

Its karma... out of something bad came something good- especially if it is a true V-code car. Get those VIN and Fender Tag pics!

Looks like a nice find, though!

You have a good question there. The hood is fiberglass, no doubt given the 4 hood pins. That dent sure does make the fender look like it is metal though. Maybe they meant the bumper was fiberglass too??? There is something funny looking about that front to me. I'm not a Cuda person, so maybe it's just that it looks different because it's painted?  :dunno:

I am glad you are ok. I am an independent insurance agent and see things like this everyday. It drives me crazy. I just want to suggest you contact American Collectors, JC Taylor, or Haggerty insurance. They offer (in most states) agreed amount coverage at an affordable rate. In Mass. (they do stated amount) you can insure a car for $10,000 for $54.00 plus around $50.00 for liability coverage. You can't beat it.
I am happy for you getting the new car and I hope you can get some justice out of that guy.

I say fix up both!!! With a run to a body shop and a little time on the frame machine they can pull down the rear. Once they get it straight enough you can buy new frame pieces, trunk, quarters anda a rear end but the look of it. Hate to see a machine like that end up in pieces, that bites, but much like everyone else has been saying glad you made it out in one piece.

You guys just aren't going to believe this.

Last night I talked to the guy about the race car.  He said the first person to get money to me gets it.  I asked if he will hold it while I get the money together.  He said I could send $500 overnight by US Mail to have it held for a week.  I agreed, but he said that just the same, if someone bought it before my $500 arrived, he would return my $500, literally, the first with money on it wins.  I said wait a minute, what about Western Union.  I can send that now, they have one in your town (Salyersville, KY), and you have money instantly.  Then I have claim to the car?  He agreed.  I called later to make sure he got it.  All was good to go.

Tonight he called, apologizing that the car had already been sold by his partner, and he'll send the money back.  Time to change my icon, I won't have a 70 440 Cuda.  Is it just me or am I having the world's worst luck this last week.  Seriously!  I am usually considered pretty lucky by my friends, well, not this week!

I don't know it for sure, of course, but here's what I'll bet happened: someone local stopped by about the car, knew it was an awesome deal, and said well, you can wait a week for this guy's $9500, or take my higher offer in cash right now.  Tell him there was a mix up, what the hey, and you get more money.  Just my hunch.  So the everyone here knows, they are www.1081autosales.com in Salyersville KY.  I'm just hoping I get my $500 deposit back without hassle.

As a medical update, my back is definitely not right, though I hope it does heal soon.  My lower back, maybe bottom 10 inches, tingles just a little, which really scares me, but I keep hoping I get lucky.  I think I should look into an MRI scan.

Thanks for the recommendation on insurance, I will definitely look into it.

Latest update:

I just had a couple of good guys from a nearby body shop stop by, and they say it's beyond reasonable repair, and I should find a shell and transfer everything over.

The guy's insurance, Gateway, called and they say he was never the owner of the vehicle, and they haven't had a policy on the car since early 2005.

Hey I'm tougher than all of this (shake), no really, I'm going to find a shell and make it work.  Maybe I can point out possible internet ones and ask your advice before I take the plunge?  Thanks for any help or advice.  Cheers.
