Junk yard visit, results...... with pics
« on: April 11, 2006 - 11:18:49 PM »
Well, I went to our local mopar yard and found a couple things I needed for the challenger.  Boy oh boy, they saw me coming a mile away! :money:

Bought a COLUMN shift for the car.  (Yes, the Challenger is going back to a column shift).  That means I'll have an extra column if anyone needs it.

$200 for the column (and that didn't include any lube.)

Also bought a Holley carb (date cade correct) for the challenger.  I'm not going to use it right away, but thought it would be nice to have with the car.

They got me for another $100!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was an ok deal at best.  It's a Rimblow (very rough) and a almost new green cover to a standard challenger steering wheel.  The got me for $75 on these two items.  Seemed ok.

Can this rimblow be saved?

Ouch on the column and carburetor!  The rest don't seem too bad.

Cody, I'd check with the member here who restores steering wheels.  He may have an idea as to what it'd cost for you to get that one restored.  I wouldn't think it'd be too bad, considering it's a rimblow wheel. :dunno:

Good score on the carb, esp. date coded correct model and seat belts especilly in the original green color that your car was. Are you thinking of dyeing them or returning the interior back to green? Will you be undoing the floor mount shifter conversion with the column shift? Did that car have a bench seat originally? Nice cruise-mobile setup!

Rimblow can be restored, there is a seller or two in MCG that advertises resto services. One of them is called Tuff Wheel (however only does soft coverings like leather), best bet to restore your Rimblow is Doug Lepak at http://drive.to/stwheels# .

Nothing like a Rimblow and pistol grip in a v-code!   :burnout:

Hmmm,  I would have traded if you had a non-column one.  I have a column shift and I would like to have it on the floor.

Not a good time to mention this I suppose.

CODY,
I don't know what shape those seat belts are in, but if they are decent, they go for over $500 on E-Bay. GREAT score man!!!

Overall not a bad haul and you are lucky to have a local yard that has any old Mopar stuff as a lot of us have no yards with anything old left in them.

What car do you have?  It's correct for my 70 383 HP with AC and Auto.
