I didn't know that they painted the Diamante back to white....

I always thought it looked best when it was the "Yellow Jacket"

It was said that at the next to last showing it was scratched and painted orange. when Steve got the car, it was orange. He checked with all the Chrysler executives who worked on the program and they assured him "it was never ever orange". so he painted it back to pearl white which was an extremely expensive refinish. Then after it's all done someone sends Steve a picture of it on display in 1973 or 1974 in orange.....great, so much for the memory of ex-execs at Chrysler.

Ed,

It was good to hang out with you and catch up on all the mopar stuff. And I really appreciate you helping me pick up my new wagon before the show. And I'm glad you had fun at Steve's. It was quite a party. Usually we only have 10-15 people there so this was quite a deal. Steve and his wife really put on a good spread. I stayed until 11:30pm.

Here is the new wagon.

Hey Nick, I had a blast, thanks again! Seems like everyone had tons of Mopar fun.  :clapping:

I ended up driving all the way back to Pine Valley that night, smiling all the way.
I couldn't find a hotel on the coast to say in, so Sunday I just stayed up there.

Great to see you, Chuck and John again!

Might go to the Nats this year, don't know yet.

I didn't end up going back to the show on Sunday, was too tired from the day before.

I'll be at the Nats for sure. Still trying to work out Carlisle.

Any chance of the collection ever being open to the public museum style?
Or going on tour like the king tut exhibit?

Thanks for the pics !

I doubt it will ever go on tour since there is so much of it and many items cannot be transported once they've been put together, especially the hanging items called danglers. Steve used to take his cars to Carlisle when they were on the east coast but they are most likely going to stay put.

The current location would not work for an open house type museum. There is not enough room to rope everything off. But Steve does open up the collection to enthusiasts when he can. I help him organize visits so if you'd like to go, send me an e-mail message with your full name and address and if you don't live in So Cal, when you're likely to be here.

Most visits are limited to 10-20 people at most since it's hard to manage more than that and Steve really does enjoy talking to everyone about the stuff. We're still working on filling out the web site with more information about the cars and automobilia. Experiencing it in person is a great thing.
