Steering Column color??????
« on: April 13, 2006 - 03:41:31 PM »
I need some help with restoring a steering column..... to the correct colors.

If a vehicle came with green interior, how much of the steering column whould be painted green & was it flat green or a gloss?

Was the bracket that bolts under the dash also green or black?

What color would the steering column be in the engine bay???? Green too?

This guy on ebay seems to have done a good job, but it's all black.

I'm pretty positive it stops just after the main casing, and it's a flat black, not gloss.
I had my steering column  restored by someone on eBay....trying to find out who but my records don;t go back that far.

Was one hell of a job! Good luck.

Cody, I think he means that particular steering column is sued or tan, and yours is green, so everything that is tan colored on that column should be green on yours. Just a representation of what is suposed to be black, and what is suposed to be interior color.

No, the type of paint is green suede, this also includes the dash, stereo speakers, seat hinge, headliner panel and rear defogger plate if so equipped.

Black Suede

Oh boy... Suede paint.  I can't say that I've ever heard of "suede" paint.  Will the paint supply store know what I need when I ask for "suede"?  Do most people just use the same color and paint as the rest of the vehicle?

Thanks so much for the help!!!!!!!

Great!  Is that the Ditzer code for F8 Dark Metallic Green?

Area code 541..... he's right down the road from me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get a hold of David at Industrial finishes, 541-772-6238, he can mix it for you and send it or he will get a hold of one of the Portland stores and tell them how to mix it.  You will need to give him the Ditzer code (43925).

Thank you so much for all the help!

Here's a couple sneak peaks of the "real deal" texture.  I had them track down a can of the texture...  It took a week just to find it!  Does it look right to you Joe?
