(I have always preferred the mid 90's body style and fit to the newer fords anyway.I paid 10.5k cash so i didnt have payments. The new fords I have driven dont seem to me to be put together as strong, but thats my opinon.

You have to be talking about the New F250's/F350's cuz i'm a Dodge man all the way and I wouldn't trade mine for any other half ton on the market. I'm in different trucks every day with my work, even my 2 buddies bought carbon copy trucks of mine cuz its been such a good truck in every aspect.   :dunno:

I've got a 99 Ram 1500 with the 5.2 Magnum. It's got the extended cab and 8' bed, and it's a BEAR to park in the Home Depot parking lot! What little bit of towing I've done with the Cuda on a 17' dovetail has been just fine. The only time I tow the car is to the drag strip, I hammer on it pretty hard when I race it, and don't want to have to walk home if I break something! :burnout:

Yes I am talking about new diesel trucks, only available in 250/350.But they are plush, the new dodges are pretty nice too but when i test drove a 2002 dodge diesel at a dealer I wasnt impressed with the power compared to a 7.3 powerstroke. No replacement for displacement, plus the number is close to a 440 at 445 C.I.I had a 98 Ram/360,its was a nice truck but I wouldnt tow HEAVY loads with it.WHile pulling a bobcat riding trencher/trailer behind it on a semi steep hill leaving my property,The ram spun the tranny with only 30k miles on it.I had to back down the hill and take a running start at it,luckily the tranny wasnt damaged, but my powerstroke has almost Idled up the same hill with the same load and i recently towed a 30 foot moving truck with it up a hill.Going done the other side was no fun as the weight was pushing me thru my brakes, lol

The new Ford 250/350's are exceptionally rough, my friend in High school had the same truck as you ahve now and I loved it. I think every truck has their strong and week points, I know I want a Ram more then anything, but until they catch up in the interior department, i'll be sticking with Ferds. When you do a lot of driving, the interior is the main thing you have to consider. Now if I were to make my next truck a diesel, I have no idea, Ferds are too rough, Dodge lacks my taste in interior, mega cab is too big, quad is too small, so maybe a Chevy  :dunno:  That hurt to say.  :banghead:  Its all personal preference and application I guess, If It was a city truck that I didnt' drive a lot, i'd go dodge diesel quad cab, nicest looking and great drivetrain.

Yes the new ford 6.0 have had many many problems. Its hard to beat the 7.3,plus the idea of having a 700 dollar truck payment a month doesnt appeal to me much for a new one, lol. My truck has 140k on it and will probably outlast my desire to get a new one some year. They go anywhere from 4-500k miles and many go over a million before a rebuild, now thats getting your money worth. The chevy would be a good choice because none of the running gear is chevy anymore, lol. An allison tranny, duramax engine ect,the "chevy" running gear" are known for having many problems with tranny/running gear previous to the allison, thats why you NEVER see one with any major maintenance companies like Santa fe,PG@E,contractors and any service company like schools and municipalities, they just dont hold up to the abuse.A contractor buddy bought a brand new 3/4 gas chevy last year and since he pulls trailers he has replaced the tranny 3 times already and has done so for the twenty years i have known him, dont know why he keeps buying them, guess he like buyng trannies.

If you are going to do very limited towing and with an open trailer you should be OK with what you are considering.  If you do more towing and/or decided to get a travel trailer or an enclosed car hauler, you may just want to step up to a Q/C 2500 to start with. This will be by far the better choice for safety and resale. I wouldn't recommend a 2500 4X4 with a V-8, way too heavy a truck for the torque available. Diesel or V10 would by my recommendation.

My 98 V-10 does very well, but if I were to get 03 or newer it would be a diesel for sure.

Yes those v-10's are a beast also, you can get a really nice one these days cheap because of gas prices, people not in the know think 10 cylinders is going to suck more fuel, which they do suck fuel but it all relative to a big 4x4 longbed truck, you dont buy them for fuel mileage. And if you get a diesel and think you will save money on fuel by using a programmer?forget it,as soon as i put mine in my fuel mileage dropped because i cant keep my foot out of it.Last month a guy pulled next me in the top of the line new Lexas(licksass to us oakies, lol) at a stop light on a freeway,He punched the throttle and i left him in a cloud of diesel smoke, lol,at the next light a mile away he stared in disbelief that this 7500 lb truck just blew his doors

Same story here.  1982 454 3+3 1 ton dually.  And as with you, the price was right.  I used to have a 2004 2500 quad cab cummins, and it was awesome! Pulled my dads 38' travel trailer with absolutely no problem! Circumstances beyond my control, I had to get rid of it.  :walkaway:

Oh, did you mean 3+3 instead of 2+2?  Crew cab right?

ok I added a pic now, ya'll please don't dog on me too bad.  I didn't do the stripes, it was that way when I got it.  I'm always lookin' for the chance to upgrade it to a dodge!  Just haven't found the right taker yet.

I ended up with an '05 Ram 2500  with the Cummins.  Quad cab, 2 wheel drive.  Also ended up with a 24' enclosed car hauler.  Used it 2 weeks ago to bring a Mopar to Atlanta from north central Virginia.  Flawless.................
