I can check on my car when I get home 4:30pm EST unless someone helps you before that. I removed my headliner, and left the bows in place.

OK, I will give it to you front to rear, the color, then what hole it is in, in relation to the three holes on the roof side rails. There are 2 wire hooks that come from the rear window frame to the last bow. I hope this helps

This is a common question, we all need help installing those   :swear: headliners.  Just do a search for "headliner" and some of the old thrreads will come up that should answer all your questions.

I bought a 4 bow set for my 72 chally and heres the e-mail the guy sent me, these came out of a 72.

Jeff: I got the bows out this morning and will ship them today via USPS.

In addition, I recorded the position that each was in (in relation to the color codes) for ease of installation. I guess the easiest way for you would be to print this eamil and save it with the bows.

*********************HEADLINER BOW POSITION- (FRONT TO BACK)*************************

The front and second bow back are identical. They have orange paint on the left (driver's) side and red paint on the right (passenger) side.

The third bow back has pink on the right (passenger side) side. It did not have paint on the driver side.

The rear bow is much larger. It has lime green on the left (driver) side and yellow on the right.

This should make them easy to install without getting them out of place or in backwards!

Good Luck and thanks again for bidding!

I had a friend that had one installed in his car. It was wrinkled in the back corners when installed. The installer said to spritz it with a mist of water, and it will shrink into place. Over a short period of time it did in fact shrink. It looked great. Talk to some people that have installed them, and I am sure they can give you some tips to get the job done easier.

I found it pretty easy to do actually. I bought mine from Legendary and it sat folded up in the box for over a year. The fold lines did finally fade. Hot water and a blow dryer both did little to nothing to remove installation wrinkles. A real heat gun made night and day difference in effective wrinkle removal. You can pick up a dual temp model at Harbor Freight for $10.

Resto Rick has posted a technique in his tech forum. It worked great for me. He also has bow color locations for most mopars on his website.

I installed mine.. if I did it again it would look much better.. work from the back to the front.

Hook the headliner in on the teeth around the back window, work your way forward. Use the 3M spray adhesive, but be carefull its hard to get off if you get it on the outside.

Start moving forward keeping even on both sides and keeping it pulled tight as possible the whole time. YOur bows will try and fall over on you so keep an eye on them.

once you get to the front pull it tight and hook to the front teeth.

I actually installed the side trim before i did the front to keep it in place. The 3M stuff dries pretty fast, you dont need alot, spray a little and hold the liner for about 45 seconds or so and it will hold.

take your time and go slow.. its not as hard as people make it out. Like i said, mine would look much better if i had done it again, i just went on a whim and figured it out as i went along.

Once it is up you can get the wrinkles out just as the othe guys said.
good luck

I did mine too. But used 2 layers of Carpet padding over the top to keep heat down so I used any hole that would line up to the bows.  One thing that I learned on a tv show, was to leave all of your screws in the holes for the Hanger hooks, shoulder belt clips, etc. Because after you put on the headliner, you can't find the holes! You think you know where the holes are, but you'll be poking around with a sharp object trying to find them, then pulling the moulding off to SEE them. If the screws are there, you just poke them through from behind with a razor blade.

thats a good idea.. I really didnt have any trouble finding mine though. I could feel the holes through the headliner.

yes, that is a good idea; I had to feel around for the holes and referenced the old liner for approximate locations

I finally have the information on the correct bows and the position to put them in...however another question comes up as I visit with a CUDA friend. He said his rear bow had two spring hooks that kept his rear bow in the proper location while pulling the headliner forward. As all of my headliner was missing I have no idea of any other parts, clips, rods, etc that I might also need. So far I have a headliner and 4 correct bows....am I good to go??
Thanks

Funny you should bring that up. I replaced the clapped out hardboard headliner in my Gran Coupe with a cloth headliner and had to gather all the parts to do it. I didn't even know there were two wire clips that were supposed to go on the rear bow until I had my headliner in! My headliner came out great without them, I guess sometimes ignorance really is bliss! :clueless:
