Why BF Goodrich?

No reason for asking, but just curious:

Why is BF Goodrich the most common tire on E-bodies?

Once in a while you see Hoosier, Mickey Thompson, or Goodyear.

Why not Firestone, Cooper, Dunlop, or any of the more exotic brands.  What is it about BFG?

 I know there's better tires out there, but it was hard to find the right size tires for my car with raised white letters. Plus it gives the car an old school look. If I was going to have blackwalls out on my tires I'd look for something newer.

there are definately some better performing tires out there. I went with cooper cobras because they, and Firestone Indy 500s seem to be the best performing out of the raised white letter group  pretty happy with mine, just seems like evvverrryyyyonnneeee has bfgs 



apparently i have a mustang tire because it says G/T on em

Not sure why, good size range, raised white letters and old school. 

Though, IMO hardly any of us would ever get the cars into such a performance stat that tires would matter.
You have to be really flinging the car around to feel any difference, on the street you can't tell from a $50 set to the best performance tires available....Drag racing would be different though, then, just use slicks.

That is a good question.  They are on all of our cars....I guess because they look good, last a long time, have a good name.......and because maybe someday I can get a picture of my car on one of their colored posters in the tire store!!

I never use BFG , way better tires out there , most of the time they are not even round & have mysterious vibrations at anything over highway speeds

 depends what you are looking for ,Good Year [ST],Dunlop [GT] & Cooper both have similar tires
 Hankook & khumo often have higher speed rated direction tires for about the same cost
Godd Year has some higher speed rated tires but the cost is higher too
never been a fan of firestones though , they made terrible tires in the past
1000s of other options with better quality

I always used them on my Challenger, just because of popularity and they just look "right".  I never had any vibration problems like Chryco though.  But one brand I will NEVER buy are Firestone/Bridgestone.  I was being paid to drive a Ford Pickup from FL to MO and the left rear blew out in Birmingham, Alabama. The damn truck swerved to the right all the way from the left lane and proceeded to roll over 3 times. It had a bolt-in rollbar and I had my belt on so I was okay.  Bridgestone tires, owned by Firestone. They closed a plant here in Decature, Illinois bcause of the Ford Explorer rollovers.

Thanks NZ, Your is NICER underneath, I've seen your pics. This is the exact wheel and tire that you use. I have the stock hemi springs on there but they are worn out almost flat. In another post I say that my driveshaft hit my tunnel top due to a short pinion snubber. I bought new springs last year but haven't put them on yet because I know if I start unbolting stuff, it might be 3 years before I get everything back together, because I might also fix this,and this, and this..........
