Mopar vs Ferrari
« on: April 23, 2006 - 12:38:11 AM »
ok this really has nothing to do with ebods, but one off the advantages to being an admin is i get to bend the rules when i want

last weekend i took old Daisy charger out for a cruise up the coast.  stopped at a fish joint for a bite to eat and being the anal owner that i am, sat next to the door to keep an eye on things.  halfway through in pulls a gorgeous brand new 430 spyder.  still had the dealer plates on it.  my jaw dropped.  i am not ashamed to admit on a mopar forum that i adore ferraris and hope to own one someday.  course i jumped up to go check it out.  stunning, love the glass engine cover, fire red valve covers is all you see, but still just amazing.  so im sitting around drooling, but oddly, busy place that it was, i was pretty much the only one scoping it out.  few looks, but i was the only one very carefully inspecting.  nope, they were all around the charger.  counted 5 of them all digging her action.  they were gabbing away about 440s and pistol grips and what year they thought was best, etc etc  30 year old dodge   it warmed my heart and pocket book      i only share cause im sure a good ebod woulda been exactly the same.  mopar sure knew what they were doing and still competes with the best ferrari has to offer.

Awesome, "It's the car, chicks love the car. - Batman" is your avatar script.  :clapping:

I like Ferrari's too, as close as your going to get to a street legal F1 car.
Those sequential shifts are what knock my boots, all those gadgets on the steering wheel....  :bananasmi

Nice story, I am also an "anal" owner.  :sly:  :dupe: :sly:

There's really not too many Ferrari's sold to the U.S. every year. Yet I see quite a few where I'm located at on an almost weekly basis. I still do the double take when one goes by.
But if a Mopar was parked and a Ferrari was too, the Mopar would get checked out first.

We found the same thing when we took our cars to the Le Mans 24 hours race last year. Our five cars (70 'cuda, 71 Camaro, 2 x 56 Chevies and a '30 Model A) all got much more interest than the literally, hundreds of Porches, Ferraris, etc.
I think in France, it was definitely because we all had something different to the norm, but they really loved these old American cars!

Hey rich,

How about when i opened the hood on my cuda at Hunaudieres Cafe on the Mulsanne Straight.
Dozens of motor racing fans wanting a look.
I had people jumping in front of my car to take photos as i drove past lines of ferraris, Lambos, porches etc.
And of course there are those wanting to see you doing burnouts, with 300+ spectators, who could refuse.
The posibility of the 300Euro fine is always in the back of your mind. I got pulled once by the local enforcment, no fine.

As a lot of you might know, I tend to buy and sell muscle cars. I am always approached by people who have a good lead or a car for sale. I was just approached this week about one that might be of interest to you. It's a 1988 Red Ferrari, model 328 GTS, it has two doors, red exterior with a tan leather interior.  The mileage on the car is 19181 and that
is original.  It has air conditioning and the removable top. Asking price is $35,500 for the car. It is in mint shape in and out.

A383...thats the Ferrari I always wanted, a 328. I've always loved those cars, and have been close to buying one several times. Big issue with those cars is the maintenance. Very expensive to maintain, especially when it's time for cam belts. Maybe someday I'll pull the trigger and buy one.

I once read or heard that you have to be a current registered Ferrari owner if you want to buy a new one. I guess there are some rules they have on buying a new one.
So is that true?

Matt, I have heard your stories can be mighty "tall" at times......this being one of them I'm sure.
How could your Dad do this last week when the car was not licensed to do any driving a week ago?  :dupe:

610hp........ :lol2: I would have loved to seen this race.

There's no doubt which car I'd be looking at if given the choice! Daisy is beautiful...I'd love to to be able to see her in person some day. :grinyes:
