« on: April 24, 2006 - 09:06:33 AM »
We'll here we are again about 2 weeks after it was announced the highest  profits for businesses oil company's were in the top three, (walmart was 2nd) The price of gas in Missouri went from $2.40 a gallon 87 octane to $2.80 a gallon, guess I won't be taking many trips this year at those prices.

I guess it's bad everwhere.  Here in Atlanta we're at $2.89 and I need to fill up the truck  :22yikes:  That'll be an easy $60!   Carlisle is going to be very expensive this year!  :walkaway:

Yep, crude is going up and so the "crude" oil companies are at it again. And just three months ago here in our area for nearly 2 weeks regular sold for $1.98 and has climbed every week since, currently at $2.88, a .90 a gallon increase in aprox. 3 months. Now I've seen some printed replies to these high prices by station owners here in our local paper, and their main point of rebuttal is that Ohio/Federal tax amounts to .46 a gallon, but it was the same amount of tax three months ago too ! I understand the cost of everything will eventionally go up, but an average of .30 a month for three months sure is suspect to rip off practices. And................the state and Federal gov. will once again look the other way, after all our tax dollars fill up their state and federal vechicles.............BASTARDS !

Ok,  let's see,  oil companies claim they make 10% profit, reguardless of the price of crude.  So, do you think they'd rather pay $20.00 a barrel or $80.00 ?

I smell a rat.

Write your congressman, representative, whatever and push for a tax on the oil companies profit.

I heard the highest in the nation was in New York somewhere at $4.50 a gallon!! There is an online wagering website that is giving 3 to 1 odds that the price of gas on June 15 will be between 4 and 5 dollars a gallon and I believe 8 to 1 odds that it will clear 5 dollars a gallon. I think I'm going to convert to ethanol. I have access to virtually unlimited free corn and 50 gallon barrels and the equipment needed to produce the ethanol is like only $600. I'm tired of lining the oil companies pockets. I have to commute to Chico State University from Redding every day (87 miles each direction). My gas bill is higher than my car payment!

You people paying less than $3 a gallon better stop complaining, or send your gas to me.  It's fugly here in the Baltimore/Washington D.C. area. We strive to be number one. I just heard we are one of, if not the highest in the nation.  :dupe:

Here is what scares me. What happens if another Katrina hurricane starts heading towards the gulf? The fear will take over, and I can see what will happen. We are toast in this matter. I hear once again congress will look into price gouging, but that didn't do anything last time.  :dupe:  :dupe:  :dupe:  :villagers:

The gas prices started going up while the oil company execs were testifying in Congress, it's like they were thumbing their noses at Congress and the American people.  The CEO of Exxon-Mobile just made  $400 mil  last year.
