Restoration Reference List
« on: April 24, 2006 - 10:12:11 AM »
Okay, the key to any successful project is organization. I hope to remedy this with a spreadsheet that will aid the restorer in logging parts, prices and labor to better help them prepare for a complete restoration. I would like to know if this is something you folks would like to use, or if it is not worth your time. I have started making this in my spare time, which is quite limited, so it will always be a "work in progress". I will try to get an alpha copy out and get some feedback as to any changes you would like to see. I will also have a sheet with parts contacts that I have found mentioned on the forums. Give me some feedback as to your thoughts and ideas.

Thanks

When we restored our chally, we lived by the spreadsheet we made for ourselves.  We knew where everything was located, what we needed to buy and put all the different vendors and prices so we could make our choices after all the research was done.  We're doing the same thing for the duster.  I don't know how people do it without a spreadsheet.

:roflsmiley:  Yep!  That was for the 7 day countdown to Carlisle.  We still have it the same way it was when you saw it.  Pixie now has her own board...it's about 8 feet long!

I am unable to upload an xls file. What I can do is email it to a couple members who heve restored thier car, or in the process of restoring one, and let me know what other information would be useful on the spreadsheet.

...I don't know how people do it without a spreadsheet.

We do it by tackling one project at a time.  Engine, body, suspension, etc.

Of course I may be a little unique in that I've only restored one car and will never sell it, so cost is somewhat irrelevant to me except for insurance purposes.  I've never had a spreadsheet and never will. It leaves a paper trail that the Mrs. can see. :o I figure as long as the bills are paid and we have a little extra cash in the till, then what she doesn't know won't hurt me:grinyes: Keeps the marriage happy!

(You people who restore cars as a family affair are just too damn lucky !!!)
