5.7 hemi swap

newbie -- checking if anyone else is doing a 5.7 swap ?
I have a 5.7 hemi in my 70 barracuda.
sorry to the guys who are into orginal and stock type cars.
this car came only as a shell and my son wanted me to go
with a modern set up for programing and gas mileage ect.
They only see ***STARS***
when hit by a MOPAR !!!

I know a few members have said there are kits Available to do the swap , I am considering doing the same to my 74

i know a guy putting one in to a a-body barracuda, so yea it can be done

trying to keep this thread going with my 5.7 hemi wiring issue's-
just using the stock factory wire harness.

have some of the electrics together as a mock set up. have bypassed the
ignition switch for now.

the start circuit is connected to battery, starter thru a relay and is cranking.
also have my gas system installed with a pressure gage, electric pump, lines
regulator with all good and working.

when both are switched on -- good fuel and cranking but no spark yet?

hoping someone has gone thru this and can help.

Hey 440WB ,take a look at this thread. It`s 57hemicuda doing a swap. Looks as he`s almost finished when he took the pics. Maybe he`ll have the answers for you.

Keep charging!  I just got a 5.7 Hemi, trans and transfer case out of a 05 dodge 4X4 and plan to put it in my 74 challenger project.  Like you I want to use the factory computer and wiring harness but have some questions about how to do it.  The antitheft key system worries me.  I know there are companies out there that have developed chips for Chevy ECM's but have not seen any info on the new hemi.  S&P performance says they can reprogram the hemi ecm but I'm not sure what you get.  Their web is www.hotrodlane.com.  I also want to use the trany I got and need to find out how to convert it to a 2 wheel drive version.  What trans are you running?

Contact some of the remote starter companies.  I had to put in a remote starter and had to get an alarm bypass module to let the car start without the key being in the ignition.  Some bypass modules have a built-in code learn feature, others use a spare key's transponder to bypass the security system. Try Best Buy to start with.

hey guys found this post in the search area.  i am considering a 5.7 hemi swap as well. I can tell you there are issues with upgrades with the factory ECU. If i were doing the swap i would use the FAST ECU instead.
70 cuda, 440, KB pistons, 10.5:1 compression, edlebrock heads,RacerBrown cam, 5-Speed Tremec, Megasquirt EFI

I met a guy on the power tour with a 5.7 Hemi in a 70 Challenger. He said that there was a company the reprogrammed his factory computer to work.  The only issue was getting the factory tach working.  I don't know the name of the company though but I think he said Mopar Performance told him their name.

Hey 440WB,

Did you ever get that factory harness to work?  What issues did you have to overcome?  Your kind of a pioneer trying to get the factory harness to work, I haven't heard of anyone else doing it.  Even the wiring guy that did it for S&P pretty much gave up on using the factory harness. 

Please tell us how you did it??
