There is a harness connector on my '73 in the trunk over the Left rear wheel well.

thanks, I can follow the pink wire but it goes into the taped harness. Should 12v. be on one side of the door switch or is the switch just completeing a ground circuit when the door is opened?

door switch provides ground, there should always be 12v+ to bulb

???
I also have no dome light in my 70 SE overhead console. I seem to have a major short as I have to leave the connector in the trunk unplugged or the fuse blows controling the brake lights. I just printed out the wiring diagram and hope to find the problem but it looks like a huge task! In addition to the dome light, I have the trunk light, map light and lights in the overhead console that are on the same circuit. If anyone has any ideas as to where to start looking, I'm open to sugestions!
Thanks, 383 SE

If disconnecting the harness in the trunk stops the problem you have eliminated everything before that plug therefore I would assume that the problem is in the wiring or a fixtures after the plug. Maybe check for shorts begging at the harness plug, go to each fixture & disconnect & see if short goes away. Of course it could be in the harness itself which could be removed, with some difficulty, from above the headliner.  :smokin:

 :clueless:
I found one pinched wire and fixed it but the problem is still there. No interior lights at all. There might be more above the console, I'll have to check again.
Thanks
