I wouldn't convert the 71 fender to 73 if that is what you are thinking.

Nope, I never even considered it. I was just curious which years interchange. Cuda's are unique in 1970, 1971, and then 72-4. I was just wondering if Challengers varied as much? Which years are a dirrect swap and which years are unique?

Worked for me! It can't sit out in front of the house like this forever (Little too "trailer trash" looking for my tastes) but hey, it has only been there a week and I have already met half a dozen the guys in the area who have cars and parts for sale, pretty effective!

Ha ha!  I love the way you advertised you needed parts!  Definately catches the eye!

Great find on the Challenger!  It's almost like they just dropped on your lap!

I wonder what the rear spoiler looked like with the Trans Am side scoops.  Back in the day (70's maybe) that must've been an interesting looking car.  I wonder if the previous owner had pics of that car in it's prime?

Maybe it looked something like this?

1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

He didn't have any pics of it in it's "prime" but he did know the guy who built it and said that in it's day it was a fast and good looking car. He said the guy street raced it allot and there wasn't much around that could best him. Apparently it ran around with a tunnel rammed dual quad 340 that was built up pretty stout, the carbs poking through a (now missing) equally garish "Corvette Summer" style hood scoop

Corvette Summer?  I loved that car!  I wouldn't drive it on the street though.  I must be stuck in the 70's.  Where's my disco ball.....

Yea, I admit it, I feel for the Corvette Summer car as well, so here's the real question? Did you prefer it when it was Red or Gold? I liked the gold better myself.....

Anyway, update, my "Parts Needed" sign worked again today, a guy stopped by and sold me an nice complete 83/4 rear for the Challenger for $200.00 (no pumpkin) but heck it was even clean and had nice wheels & tires!

Challengers are 70-71 then 72-74 for bolt on interchange.

Actually, the 70 nad 71 fenders are each unique.  The 70 headlight bezel is different than the 71 and in order to fit a 70 fender onto a 71 a minor "body modification"  is required.  You need to notch out one of the bezel mounting holes.

Yeah Scott,   That red one is a T/A! I can tell by the scoops on the front fenders. :roflsmiley:

I liked the red.  I guess that's because that was the first color you saw and also it made the flames stand out.  I always had a thing for candy apple red with metal flake.  Maybe it had to do with the dune buggies or bumper cars I used to see when I was younger.  I have a 1/20th scale covette that I eventually will turn into a replica of that car.

I actually had sales literature for when the car was up for sale in the late 70's/early 80's.  It was a closed auction.  They sent a 4x6 postcard of the car and detailed information on the build up.  I only have the post card left in my photo album.

Hey, that's what mine must have looked like, but in a '73 version.

Scott, I like the way you have that advertising sign. :clapping:  I'd give that a try in my area, but I'd be afraid my car would get picked up instead. :sly:
