An Honor
« on: May 03, 2006 - 11:05:25 AM »
Since I have yet to send my car off to a show and share with all of you the pride of seeing my baby recognized I thought I would share this with you.

A few months back on a cold winter morning around 9am I was walking out of the grocery store. As I went through the exit doors I noticed a guy standing and scanning the parking lot. You know that feeling when something is just not right ,well that was the feeling I had as I walked through the doors and past this guy. I was pushing my cart and had gotten about 20 feet from the doors when I heard a voice scream " Hey what are you doing to that lady" As I turned I saw the guy I had a bad feeling about pulling a purse out of an older lady's hand.  Next thing I new this punk was heading straight for me at a full run. As he got closer he pulled his fist back as to punch me and I leaned back to avoid the blow.He no sooner got passed me and I began to run in hot pursuit Yelling at him of all things "STOP" As he ran he turned and pitched the purse at me but by then is was to late I didn't want the purse. I wanted him. He rounded the corner of the store and slid on some ice crashing into a stop sign. I got my hands on his jacket but he managed to pull away. He ran another 15-20 feet and as I reached out to grab any part of this thug another by-stander joined in and we all went down in a heap. Luckily the good guys ended up on top and we managed to hold him down until the police arrived. All the while he was yelling that he had a gun. I told him so do the police and they will be here any minute.

I went down to the police station that sunny cold morning feeling like I was walking on air. The lady who this low life attacked was ok physically. She got her purse and belongings back and the punk ended up with 2 years behind bars.
Now I have the great honor of being thanked for something I would not hesitate to do again.

Wow!  Great job, Tropicalcats!  You da man!

It's great that you helped out.  In todays society, there's a lot of "bystander effect".  People just watch as stuff happens and don't bother to help out, figuring that atleast it wasn't them that got robbed.  Sorry for the cynicism.

Again, great job!  Definately something to be proud of!

Glad to see someone else out there still has some balls to do the right thing.  Most people would just stand back and then tell the police what the guy looked like.  Way to take the Law in your own hands.  The thing that is scarey, is you never know if these punk-a$$es are actually packing or not.  Good Job..well worth the recognition.

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.
