Brought home a new Jeep Yesterday!!(pics!)
« on: May 08, 2006 - 07:06:38 AM »
I just bought a new Jeep!!  I have always wanted a flat-fendered willys...now I have one!!  It is a 53 body with I believe chevy blazer axles.  It has a 350 with a holley double pumper, Accel distributor/wires, rancho suspension, dual exhaust.  It needs a little TLC, but will be a nice addition to the arsenal.  Here a a few pics of it......

The guy that I bought it from said the last time he drove it, he won the mud drags.  He also said that on pavement, from a stop, it would lift the front tires off the ground 12 inches!!  I need to get the distributor fixed, new plugs, battery and rebuild the carb...then I will see for myself!

Thanks for the compliments...now I have to re-learn chevy small blocks!  Too bad they don't make a tranny conversion for the Mopar blocks..  :hyper: Oh well..this motor has a lot of work done to it, so I might as well beat on it for a while.  The chevy sticker on the back is coming off though...  :grinyes:  How hard is it to rebuild a Holley 750 double pumper?  I saw the kit was about $100!  :banghead: I just picked up the new Accel cap and rotor along with a new set of Accel plugs.  Now I have something to do tonight!  (even though I should be finishing other projects first... :bricks1: )

Ok, I found a kit from Speedway motors here in town, and it is only $36.95.  I feel better now!   :bananasmi

LOL! Love the sticker on the rear.  :lol2:

What color are you going to paint it, or are you leaving as-is?

I always wanted mine to be a bright yellow, with black highlights....but the white/blue is growing on me...not the pink though... :puke:  My wife likes the pink, but I said no way!  The sticker on the back is pretty funny...there also is one that sais, "Horn Broken, Watch for Finger".. LOL  I think that I am going to give it a fresh coat of white paint, and paint the pink stuff blue.  The first priority is to get the carb rebuilt and get it moving.  I will keep the progress updated and hopefully will have some pics of it going through some cool stuff!

That carb is not a double pumper.    See that big thing on the passenger side of the carb...   Thats where the spring goes for the Vacuum Secondaries.

Neat Willy's, should keep you busy.

Are you sure?  :clueless:  When I was looking in the Speedway catalog for the rebuild kit, it looked just like the picture.  :dunno: I have a buddy of mine going to do the rebuild for me so I will see if he knows which kit I need.  At least I know that they have them in stock here in town.  Thanks for the heads up!
