What are you using to hold trunk open?
« on: May 08, 2006 - 05:18:14 PM »
There has to be a better way than my PVC method.  What are you using to hold trunk open when they have a heavy spoiler?  A hood prop from another car might be an idea?  Like to see what the innovative people have done?

Thx

Are your rods set correctly?  The holes in the vertical supports allow tension adjustment.  They may be set too weakly.

What he said. You shouldnt have to use any trunk prop.

Deputy,

Do you have a pic from further out?  I'm not seeing whole set-up.  I've had 2 Challengers, and neither would hold lid open with a T/A spoiler?

I'd like to hear from a factory T/A owner, are factory rods strong enough or different?

When I added the T/A spoiler to mine, I moved the torsion springs over to a different slot. Works perfect.

I added a spoiler to mine and adjusted both rods to a tighter hole too. Have another mopar guy look at your trunk torsion rods.

Rob,
To make them stiffer, do I need to move them forward, or backward as far as the holes go? Mine is kinda not as stiff as I would like since I put on the go-wing.  :1zhelp:

Pull them towards you.  I use the biggest craftsman screwdriver that I have, stick it in from the bottom to hold the rod, use something else to slide it out of the hole, then pull towards you to the next hole.  Be carefull, the trunk might drop and hit your head.  Here I am drawing again.....

Thanks Rob,
If I remember correctly, I think I have one more slot to go in that direction. As far as hitting my head... I have banged it enough on the hood-latch thingie in the engine compartment. I'm used to that by now.   :lol2:
