Cars In Yards
« on: May 09, 2006 - 05:11:42 PM »
Out traveling in a remote area again, here are a few pics of some I spotted today. Could someone decipher the GTX numbers? They aren't very clear, I was trying to hold the hood up with one hand and take the picture with the other.

No I didn't get to talk to the owner, I was hoping I wouldn't get shot while I was snooping around so I didn't get too much information off of most of these. I went to the door and no one answered. I took all these pictures and as I was walking back through the field towards the house, a woman asked if she could help me and I just said is Jerry home? She said no one here named Jerry, I just said hmm,  :clueless:  I could have sworn he said his name was Jerry when I talked to him last. I said he was going to send me some pictures of these and I guess he must have forgot, guess I have him mixed up with someone else. She was very nice and polite but not sure if the guy will call me or not. I just left her my card and asked to have the guy call me. Here's hoping!

There are E-Bodies in your midst, and you are worried about a GTX???  Sorry I can't help, but that place looks like quite a find.

From what I can see the fender codes for this 440 GTX are:

(M - 6)   ????
(R - 1)  Radio-AM Music Master/Economy 2 Watt
(X - 1)  Glass: Tinted Glas All Windows
(7 - 8)   Mouldings: Wheel Lip
(A - 4 )   Rearend: 8 ¾, 3.23:1 ratio
(X - 8)   Sure Grip

That is about all I can tell for now.  Good Luck

You make me laugh TC,  :roflsmiley: but I guess you're right, I was going down this back way from one little town to another and as I was passing this farm, I noticed familiar looking metal in the back through the trees, glad I turned around to take another look. They do have some real good metal, the Cuda or Barracuda looks pretty solid from what I could see. Also, did you see how far down in the dirt the GTX is? I'd bet it's been in that same spot for 20 years. There's probably more but I didn't really dare snoop around much longer, I got caught as it was and thought I'd better talk to the guy if possible before looking through his barn and sheds, who knows what else is out there. (maybe the bodies of the last dozen or so people who went snooping)  :22yikes:  Here's another Challenger or what's left of it from another angle. I'm going to try and drive home that way and hopefully the owner will be home. I'll keep you posted.

 :banghead:

This stuff KILLS me. I am pulling my hair out trying to find a straight clean car, and it's guys like these that leave 'em in their field to rot until they are razed by some developer who wants than gone when they die.

ARGHH!!

Very cool pics. Would have made my heart pound.
Hope he calls.

Best regards,

dmz73

PLUM6 GR8 PIC"S!!!
But be careful, once on a backroad in Arkansas I spotted some goodies in a field though the trees.  :clapping: As I drove a little further I was met by Billy Bob and Cletus (possibly not their real names). But the shotgun on the porch and the pistol in the belt was!!! And I was still on the public road!  Turned my "southern on" and got the hell out of there.   :22yikes:

FYI- no offense intended to the southerners on this site. My family is originally from Alabama
