One of our members has generously offered to try to contact Chip Foose and see if he would like to get involved.  We'll see where this takes us.   :jumping:
I hope something like that happens.....be good publicity for Foose, for CCC and just good for everyone really.  :lol2:

I'm finishing this tonight (hopefully), and that's the way I'm trying to pitch it to him (publicity, that is), since it's unlike most of the other jobs. Also, it's a lot easier than most of the other jobs; they don't have to worry about coming up with some elaborate plan to snatch the car, and then try to keep the owner from prowling around looking for it with a gun  :) Also, they don't have to have a deadline (although I guess that's part of the appeal to some people).

Oh yes he does have a deadline..............Carlisle 2007, but first not only does he have to agree, we as a board need to come up with a Cuda ! So we need to get our collective butts in gear too, finding the starting point, a Cuda.

Correct  ;D. I meant that he doesn't have to get it done in a week.

That finding a car thing is the other weird part of this as well. The info on their web site says that  they will only accept working cars, so anything we'll deliver to them has to be in operating order. I volunteered (unskilled) labor time if we end up with something within driving range for me.

What about that 70 'Cuda I found a while back in my neighborhood.  Granted, I STILL can't get ahold of the owner, but the car just sits there, and is pretty solid....

Ghost, you should definitely continue looking into that 'Cuda. :2thumbs:  The only possible car in my area right now is a 'Cuda shell I've been told about by a neighbor, but chances are it's in really rough shape from being in northern Wisconsin. (not to mention it doesn't really fit their criteria.) :-[

Thanks for rambling R/T!!  Nothing's happened with this for quite some time.  One of our members is in the process of contacting the Overhaulin people to see if they would be interested in helping us out.  But we will definately need more money to purchase the car!  Give what you can.  Here's some other ideas...

If you have something nice you'd like to raffle off, just say the word and I'll help put that together.
If you have something you'd like to auction off to the highest bidder...we can work on that too.

If there are any other ideas, post them here and let's get this going again.  We have until next Carlisle to pull this off.  :faint:

The short story is that we're trying to purchase a cuda for TheCudaGuy, a longtime member of the board.  He's just gotten back from his second tour of duty in Iraq. His c-c.com ID is unable to view this section of the board...so he knows nothing about this.  He's never owned a cuda, and our plan is to be able to present him this car at Carlisle in 2007 with as many members as possible there to thank him for his service to our country.  Right now we have around $3,200 collected.  We've got a long way to go.  If you'd like to contribute, you can send me a paypal at mrcjdavis@hotmail.com or, if you'd like to send a check or money order, you can pm me for my address.  If you have other ideas, post them here.

I sure wish I could have swung that 74 BS23G4B car, Laura. Parts car now.
As members doing this for a good fellow member, what condition of car are we persuing? Total project or a good driver? I have some leads on some Cudas. One is a very nice 72 340 car B5 blue in excellent driver/ show condition for $28000. The other is a 70 383 car, but the owner wants $40K and it needs restored.
I have even thought of putting just one item out of my Ebody stash on Ebay and donating the profit to this cause.
I think we should set a goal amount, within reason, to meet and give a progress report weekly. Such as $10,000.00... We can do it!  I like a good challenge (no pun intended)
Cant kill the mean and ugly. Only the good die young...I plan to be here a while!!

Hell of a idea, I'm in for that, I also like the idea of selling parts to members and put that money towards the fund, I have a couple of things I can part with to help out. I already gave money awhile back but willing to do more.
