I had a 15x7 front with a 235x60x15 tire with a 3-5/16 backspacing. This is just like your front combo. I like my front low and it rubbed going around turns while going into "curb" driveways.  I had to puti little 215x60s in the front, like yours, to keep from rubbing, but they looked small. I did not have the hemi-type bulged fenders, so yours might not rub.

Your 255-70 rears are wide but also tall so might fit if you only run the 7" wheels, but those look too skinny for the drag look.

When choosing wheels remember e-body 7" wheels had a 4" backspacing. You usually have to go both ways as you widen them. Like the 8" rallyes for example. You added an inch, but split it by adding half an inch to the back spacing and half to the front. That's why an 8" wheel with a 4.5 backspace fits so well. A 9" wheel shoulg have a 5" backspace.
If you choose a wheel on looks, it'll probably have the 3-3/8 backspace, it'll probably also rub and you won't be happy.

Evil, Are those centerlines in your picture? Those also say "not for street use" on them under the cap. I ran those for years and always worried about them.

NZ, did you know that your center caps are year correct for the '71?

Rob
Yea I'm running Centerline autodrags but the only thing it says under my caps on the 15x7's and the 15x8.5's is the max load rating. The set of 15x3.5's that I'm still using to hold up the front of my Duster don't say anything.  I know on the web site they say for auto OR drag racing but not for truck or vans. My rims are all very old so maybe they started marking the newer ones  :dunno:
I wouldn't worry about running Centerlines on the street, everyone around had them in the 80's including me and the only problem they had was you always had one or two that leaked air  :banghead:, but all an all there a pretty tough rim and feel solid.
But if I pick up my 15x3'5 and 15x15 weld Prostars and there is nothing to those rims.
A street/strip weekend car might be fine with them as long as they stayed away from rough roads and fast corners.

What about the 15 x 7 Torq Thurst D wheels by American Racing ?    they have a back spacing of 3-3/4

tire sizes of 275-50-15 in back and 215(225)-60-15 in front ?

((((getting bored with the rallyes)))) :faint: :bricks1:

I really like those wheels
I like them without the center polished, a guy with a black GTX had some fat ones on his car at a show, his car sat nice and squaty and it looks so mean!!!

Robb, That might be okay up front with the 235s, but what about the rear?  Please don't put 275-50s on a 7" wheel.  What do they offer in backspacing for an 8" or 9" wheel?

For me, I've had my car all through the 80s with cragar S/Ss, through the 90s with centerlines, so for the 2000s, I had to go back to Rallyes to try to give it the original look.       But those wheels look sharp!

NZ, that '71 Cuda would look so much better with Rallyes.   C'mon admit it.    Then maybe a white billboard.

I did the same thing, guy who sold me my wheels says he sells about 1-2 sets of 70 centers a year to the people who want "correctness" everyone else likes the darker centers.

I have the 275/50's on 7's now.   :dunno:

When I had Magnum 500s I ran 8 inch tires on the back (same tires) and they rubbed just a little when the rear springs compressed but nothing serious.    I then went to Rallyes and ordered 2 7s and 2 8's but they sent me 4 7's.    I mounted them anyway and I have to admit something about the way the 7's tucked into the rear a bit more uniformly and it simply had a overall smoother look to the whole car than what the 8's in the back gave me.

the 275's in a 50 series, dont "appear" to bulge like a person might otherwise think.
---------------------------------------------

OH YEAH..   I forgot that the 2F2F challenger had those rims.   Ill have to search some pics to see how they look on that car.   Im not sure I want to be seen as cloning that movie car, necessarily. :dunno:
