4 speed transmission

is there different tailstock lengths for a-833 transmissions?? the transmission that I have has the shifter bolting on behind cross member mount all the pictures in manuals that I have seen the shifter bolts in front of the mount what car is my transmissions tailstock used in??I'm trying to put it in an A Body

The A833 for the a-body has a shorter tailshaft and tailshaft housing than the B/E body unit.   You also have to make sure that the front input bearing diameter matches the bellhousing as these came in at least 3 diameters depending on the vintage and application.

you have the long tailshaft version for the B/E & trucks
