Fiberglass tends to "move" around. I got a Year One hood too. Next to impossible to get them perfect. We put on many layers of primer, and buffed that before we shoot the black.

Rudy... have you sprayed the lacquer yet? How's you avoid a seam if you taped off the tail panel?
Also, I remember seeing at some point that underneath the wing was painted black too.... but it sort of followed the outline of the wing... is this stock or do you know?

EvilTwinATX, I have heard/read about the outline you are talking about but I think it was done on T/A Challengers - sort of a black shadow that follows the shape of the spoiler.  Haven't seen a clear photo of it but have seen it.

Oz - the "outline" you are speaking about was actually a decal (on the quarter panels) and was indeed only on the Challenger T/A's. There is some debate on whether or not the trunk lid was painted or was body color or used a decal also. If you look at the hamrick-historical website you can find the engineering drawings....
So far I have not found any decal company that produces the quarter panel decals.. please let me know if you have better luck.

Also, the seams that you will get with the black are hidden by the trunk trim. There are different ways you can lessen the appearence of the seam but you will never completely get rid of it. If you do a search there is another thread I started about this subject...

Hey everybody!! Some new progress on the car. The front frame and suspension, etc. is in! Next is the rear end, and all new lines... we still need to paint the very botom edge of the rockers, and that will give it the right amount of overspray that I want on the undercarriage. After all of this is complete, and the lines are run, the undercoating will be applied correctly. Check out the pics!
