Some of you have read my other posts... I hadnt touched the bottom of the car but decided to go back and do it before it was too late and I have paint on. I am SO GLAD I DID!!  I found a mobile media blaster to come and blast the undercarriage.

Lookin good!  Did you ever decide on whats going back there?  Just wondering what your gonna use to replace the undercoating if anything.

72chally... I am going to do my own custom thing. I did a test panel and it looks good. Basically two coats of POR15 on the bottom,  the a good coat or 3M Body Shutz and then POR15 Chassis Black on the top. 3 step process but I can do it easily and costs me less than $200.

Your media blaster was able to remove all that undercoating?  Man, I had to scrape and scrape and scrape.

yep! he was able to remove all of it - he used crushed glass and they worked real well. He said it had two or three layers too so I was impressed. Took him about 3 1/2 hours - man it would have taken me a couple of weeks to do the same job.. I learned my lesson on this one.

Does the mobile blaster do the work over a tarp or use some other means of containing the media and the stuff being removed?  Or do you have to have an open area available and then clean up wheen they're done?

Duo - the media is inert and non-toxic and ends up just like sand. no need to clean up just let it soak in to the ground naturally... but it all depends on the media being used. a tarp could have easily been used though to clean up if you wanted to. I just did it in an open area...

  I have used aircraft stripper for this step on my chally,and a scrapper worked fairly well but remember to have on a thick through away coat or something cause those drippings from the stripper sure burn like crazy,been there done that.

Thanks.  I'm in a townhouse; there's no way I could have that done here without it being tented or otherwise enclosed.  I think I'll have to leave the car rolling and take it to a blaster to get it cleaned up, unfortunately.
