I sanded the trim rings with varying grits all the way to Wet 2000... then polished them a little. I wanted a finish that was a little shinier than a "brushed" finish. The bezels are coated with something from the factory prior to painting I think... if you can just remove the paint and not sand them it would look great too. It would actually be shinier ... mine were scratched up though, so I had to sand the bezel to get out the scratches. I think the factory clearcoat is there to prevent rust.
