feel like an idiot
« on: May 19, 2006 - 08:20:18 PM »
what i have is a 360 with a cast crank and i thought that my 318 lower pulley would bolt up.now i know that the pulley would only bolt up one way on the 318,but it doesn't fit the 360.the 318 had ac so its a 3 groove pulley and all i have right now.my question is do i need to find a 360 pulley?or will a 2 groove 340 pulley work?

I think I have a extra 340 pulley, can you provide measurements of what you need?  :bigshades:

due to external balancing on the 360 the  balancer is thicker so the pulley is shallower , hit the wrecker & get a set of pulleys off a 360 LA engine

yesterday i got the 2 groove pulley right off a 340 and guess what that doesn't fit either.i went to the local salvage yard and they only had the 3 groove pulley.I think ma mopar might have changed the bolt pattern on the 360 engines dampner.

Does it not work because of belt alignment or bolt hole alignment? I went from a 318 to a 360 in my '73 challenger and if I remember correctly I had to file one bolt hole out.

the belts line up is fine its the bolt hole pattern, might have to order a pulley.just read in one of my mopar books that the bolt pattern is different for the cast crank engines after 73.

I read the same thing in a Mopar book years ago.  They also said to File the one hole to use the pulley.
