Semi-urgent problem- Wheel making a metronome sound when driven

Whenever I'm in motion, my right front wheel makes a clicking sound like a metronome. it gets faster as i accelerate.

Now while this makles maintaining speed rather simple, i am worried about it.

does anyoen have any ideas on what could be causing this?

Rock in the tire tread?

You could try putting the right front wheel up in the air and try spinning it to see if it still makes the sound.  If it doesn't, is it possible there's something in the tread. 

I know, a simplistic answer but just a thought.

 I had the same thing a couple years ago on my 2001 F250; couldn't figure out what it was, and it was driving me nuts. Checked for stones in the tread, etc., all the things you'd normally look for. Turned out to be low air pressure in the tire; once the correct air pressure was in the tire, the noise went away. I know it sounds crazy, but that's what happened. I remember the tech guy at Ford explained to me why that happened, but I can't recall what the explanation was. Anyway, sure can't hurt to check the tire pressure, and it'd be a simple fix!

Yes, actually, when i inspected the tire i found that my center cap was loose.

while on the subject- my wheels also squeak while driving -not just braking- but driving normally, could this have some relation to the clunking?

anyway, how do i re-secure the center cap? rubber mallet?

What kind of wheel is it? If it is a Rallye there are screws that hold the center cap in from the back of the wheel, just take the wheel off and tighten them.

Awesome, thanks guys, I took the wheel off and sure enough, the screws were loose.

I tightened them all up, and now it doesn't click

Glad to hear problem solved, just goes to show even a blind squirrel can find a nut every now & then
