would a clean slant 6 70 barracuda be a good clone car?

I want to make a hemi or 440-6 clone, manual tranny car, and found a clean 6 cylinder 70 barracuda in south texas for $13k. My question is- is it a good car to clone? or decent car to start with? or are 6 cyl/auto's too hard to change over to a manual tranny/big block car? Thanks for any input.

Yes, it's a good clone candidate.  K-frame has to be changed but Schumacher sells adapters.

 About half of what you are paying for the car.    Seriously, the price is crazy. If that's what you want, then fine. Nothing wrong with putting a big-block in there, but the Rally hood, or whatever they called them on Cuda's, would be a much cheaper way to go.

Its actually called a Cuda hood,versus a barracuda flat hood,its has scoops like the challenger rally hood,only for a Cuda

 Better beef up the suspension, shocks, springs, torsion bars etc. 
Put that heavy  motor in the car and you'll overpower the weak /6 suspension and you'll drive it into a ditch...

On barracudas the only thing difference in the suspension department is the torsion bars. Believe it or not the steering gear and linkage is the same. You can find V8
k-members all day long for cheap. Much cheaper than the schumacher mounts. You can add aftermarket front and rear sway bars from any of the suspension parts suppliers and they work better than the old worn out originals anyway. I say go for it.

Right and you can get the V8 K-member and torsion bars from any mid sixties B-body up to 1972. That means 4 doors or station wagons ect
...and the disc brakes off of a  '73 - '76 A-body and you have upgraded big time over that '70 slant stuff

Sounds like a great clone project to me. If it's a nice car you already have a great start. Here is a picture of my Cuda with the dual scooped hood.

Actually, an old drag racers trick was to run the slant six torsion bars in their big block and hemi drag cars. It gave them more front end rise on launch to transfer more weight to the rear tires. For the most part I don't think they had much of a problem running off into the ditch.
