I think the rear seats are narrower, and you need the track that goes on the back of the seat.

From the picture of your back seat area, I'd say someone recovered the rear panels and covered up the place where the lights are supposed to shine there.  Check out the white panels above, it has the slats through which the light bulb can shine - that is how the interior "dome" lights work on ragtop e-bods.

The info given so far is helping me a lot, but there is more I need to find out. I posted some pics of seats. Are these ok for a 71 conv? Pls someone comment.
1. shelbydogg Thanks for all your answers. The right hand signal indicator cannot be seen, so I will change the position of both when I paint the car. SHould they be right in the middle, or extreme ends (opposite to what they are now?). Any measurement to go by?
You also say "key light". Where is that. You see much of the electr bits were not working, and I am trying to get them to work well.
2. Go JobYou may be right that the hood was changed. I rather like this one. Will it affect the car's value if left on?
Is there a chance you can send me some photos of your seats please to (farouk@lebolive.com). Any other photos of your conv. will help too.
I have no fender tag nor broadcast sheet, that is why I am trying to learn more about the car.

I don't know if it would be the same for a Challenger vert, I would think it should be, but on my '73 Cuda the map light is below the ash tray, the switch is just to the right of and below the ash tray.  If you want pics, I will post them.

The convertible also has a light under the dash on the passenger side that comes on when the door is opened.  Three lights total in the interior, 2 in the back and one in the front.  The convertible rear seat is unique . . standard rear seat will not fit.  I suggest getting it recovered and using your old seat as they can be tough to find!

Thanks all for your help. Actually, I do not have old seats for it, that is how I bought the car. That is also why I am trying to get photos of a genuine 71 conv in order to check around for the propper seats.

4Cruizn What year is your recent project? Can you please name one or two suppliers for parts that sell on line. There is much needed for my car, and your car looks great!

All you gentlemen with "Cudas" in your posession, I am taking note of your e-mails and will certainly lean on your knowledge soon. I am being promised a 73 Cuda. Once I see it, I will report my findings to you.

Some more questions guys.

1. As my panels have all been painted red, and I am trying to get them back to orig state, I noticed on some cars a silver line surrounding the panel as well as the vents (see attached photo). Is this to be painted in or is there a metal strip.

2. On my instrument panel, the hi-beam indicator lens is missing. Is it supposed to be red or blue?

3. I have located the ign key light, and will connect it soon. When does it light up, with the doors open or with the lights switch?

Hi again dear friends.

I have just located a '71 R/T 383 magnum auto trans, and added it to my collection
Many of the questions I wanted to ask about the vert will now be answered as this car seems to be very original still.
However I now have some questions on this one.

I have not seen the lines like on this one, on any member's car nor on the internet. So do I take it that the lines are wrong?

Also all the seats' pictures that I have seen did not include cloth. Are these standard or modified?
Please see pictures attached.

By the way, was the 383 magnum the biggest engine on the '71 R/T, or was there a bigger one?

Those are interesting side stripes, but definitely not originals. I'm not sure about the seats, but I would have to say they were custom made too. You could get a 71 R/T with a 440.

To be honest, those side stripes do resemble the stripes on a 73-74 Cuda.

Those seats were offered in Challengers in 1971. Do you have a fender tag for either car?

Look in the seats in the new car for broadcast sheets as well, here is a list of places to look for them;

Taped to the back side / top of the glove box insert.
Under the front bucket seats in the springs.
Inside the bucket seat backs.
Under the rear seat bottom.
In the rear seat back.
Under the package tray,  (speaker shelf) or under the carpet. 

The black and orange cloth 1971 interior is one of my favorites.

Thanks Barry for your input. I do not have a broadcast sheet, but was told by the previous owner that there is something of the sort in the back seat. I will be taking it off soon to check, otherwise will look in all the places you mentioned.

Any way of trading your set of 73-74 seats to someone with a set of 70-71s.  Your Vert needs the correct seats. New covers are available through Legendary. Put some classified ads out there looking for a trade. You'll get some calls looking for your seats.
