Originality of 71 Conv Challenger

Are you looking for an auto trans for your car?  I have one that I'm taking out.  My car had a 4 sp manual originally. So I be taking out the pedal assembly and trans. My car is a 70 ragtop r/t w/383. Note, I also have a slapstick for the auto also.

That upholstry is original for 71 my 71 came with something similar but it was black and white cloth instead of that black and orange cloth! and I think it IS a challenger not a cuda budbrinker look at the lines on the quarter panel in the back!!
And challenger7 have you checked out yearone.com for parts? they supply ALOT of reproduction parts for the older muscle cars and they have pretty good quality AND pretty good customer service!!!

Thanks Rob for the advice.No trading here as they are very rare here, but I am getting some leads where to get some seats saved from old broken up cars. I may face a color problem such as the hard back. Is it acceptable to paint them to the correct color? Say I find a white back and mine should be red or black? If acceptable, is there a correct type of paint to use.

Farouk,   Painting the wrong color backs will work until you find the correct color.  Chryslers at Carlisle will be here soon, July 7-8-9, And Mopar Nationals in Columbus, August 11-12-13.  You need to get out to those and look through the swap meet and Vendor booths to look for the right parts.

Rob, I wish I could. I live in Lebanon (Middle East)! Do you think I could contact someone who does this sort of thing, and say "book an order" through him? I can pay everything, and give him a US address to ship to?
You also mentioned "Legendary" for upholstry. Can you tell me their website address. I can't seem to locate it on google.

They don't have an online catalog anymore but have a big catalog with Mopar stuff in it.
Also get a catalog from Year-One.  They have seat covers and everything you'll need.

Yes parts here are almost impossible to get. Only the odd ball joint or shocs and a few bits and pieces left over from old times, and they are getting less by the day.
I am always on the look out for scrapped cars to get body parts just in case I need something in the future, but will need the suppliers in US to make my cars very pretty again from the inside
That new beauty, have you actually taken delivery of it! It looks grrrrreeaat!

Yes I do have an R/T but only got it just a few days back, and yes it has answered many questions. Mind you, even with the R/T there which I am now sure that it is 100% original, with my limited knowledge of these cars, I had to ask a couple of questions about it too
My problem is that I have been collecting cars for many years, but mainly European. I only have a '56 Desoto Fireflite, and a mild '66 Mustang coupe. Short of that, I knew very little about Muscle cars, and now the fever is really hitting me
Also see the lines on the R/T, I had to confirm if they are correct and was told they are not. So, my new question, do the double lines that end 3/4 down the car come in a sticker form or should I paint them on, and if painted should they be matt or shiny?

I put the 71 style stripes on my 70 because I liked them so much. They are a decal(sticker). You could get them in matte or gloss black, but I think the gloss would look better on your car.

Thanks Mike for the tip, and all I need to do is decide what color to give each of the two cars, as both need a complete paint job. You are up early!! In Lebanon, we are GMT + 2 hours

I am new to this website and have been reading various forums. I see the last entry for this one was June 28th.
Any update on your cars? I also have a car I am hoping to restore someday. Meanwhile I will enjoy YOUR progress and enthusiasm.  Good luck with your project.  (pls post pictures as you go....)

Hi Andy, and welcome to the best group!

Actually no progress yet except for few mechanical repairs to make the cars nicely driveable. As they are, they are both in a very good state and I drive them as often as possible, and they both turn many heads and requests for sale.
I am still learning more about these cars as I am very much new to them, and trying to make as many contacts with parts suppliers as I can. I am having difficulties there because many suppliers do not export outside USA. So I contracted a shipping company who offer me some 40 locations in USA to whom I can have my order shipped, and they will forward the goods to me.
My other issue is I cannot make up my mind if I should keep the cars in the current color or do something drastic. The convertible deserves something way out, but not sure what yet.
For sure, when I do start, there will be many postings and pictures to show it all. In the meantime, I will continue learning and thinking and burning gas and visiting my ENT doctor to check my ear drums
