  I couldn't find any pictures for you. I think the ones I remembered seeing of the different trannys was on this website. So I did a search, and sure enough the pictures were wiped out when we moved to a new server a few months back.  It's still 50/50 as to which tranny you have. I would lean towards the 904 though.

Sweet find Rich Nice going

I would love to know the production numbers of a 71 S/E. There couldn't have been many.  If you have a 904 tranny in there now, then you will have to upgrade to a 727. I don't know the numbers on either, but you can tell the difference between them by the shape of the tranny pan. I'm not sure if I have the pics handy or not. If I do, I'll post them shortly.

don't you love little old ladies that buy cars like this? nice find by the way! and great looking car!! I know this ISN'T a mopar BUT my dad purchased a 70 Olds cutlass from a little old lady it had a 400 engine in it! nice fast car! great looking too! and boy was HE lucky she thought it was a POS not worth much and sold it to him for the whopping sum of $400.00! can you believe THAT? sure wish it was a challenger  Oh well good luck with all the work on your new car! and again great find!!

OK, update time:

Going over what the car actually is, and what it says it is is getting stranger everytime I look at it. The rear window on the car appears to not be correct, however, it is out of the factory. Even stranger, the car was manufactured in January of 71, which should classify it as a '72, yet it is all 1971 molding, grill, panels, rear, etc. Could this be a rarity dodge made of leftover 71 parts?? I'm having other people who know more about E-body's than my dad and I look into what the heck is going on with this car. This all got started with a phone call to legendary to order a new headliner, and when reading the tags, the dude on the phone said the tag doesnt make any sense, but it's all on the tag!!! More news to follow!!!

Wouldn't a Jan '71 car be a '71?  I think they didn't start making '72s until August 1971.  My '72 has a manufacture date of 8/17/71.

Take a pic of your tags if you'd like, then members here can help you decipher it for you. Also, does your car have the 6 way seat in it?

It's possible that you have '70 stuff on your '71.  I have a '71 dash in my '72 and it was factory that way.

Would be cool to see what '70 parts you have!

You need a big block 727 not a small block 727 there is a difference.

Carlisle update!! I spend my day at carlisle rummaging through parts. I picked up the wide grill surrounds I've been hunting for so long!!! I also picked up some reproductions marker lenses and housings, expect the old ones on ebay in the fall. Lot of weatherstripping was aquired. Some door skin panels. Got a battery tray and hold down as well. Still waiting on the reproduction fenders to begin the restoration.
