Wiper Motor

it is pretty obvious that I will need a new wiper motor.
the thin bare wire leading to the housing indicate that the motor probably burned up at some point.

I understand that you can have them rebuilt somewhere, you can find remanufactured ones, new (not original style) etc.

I have heard that the cuda/challenger will interchange if you change the plug out....

but do any other car models interchange?  I have not e-body resources here in SC to find a used one.

BTW: 73 Challenger is my car and I am not sure if it is a 2 or 3 speed....

Year One has someone who rebuilds the motors and they sell them. They will give you a credit for your old motor if you don't want it.

got to thinking last night... I have a cousin that Winds / rebuilds motors for a living...Man what was I thinking....I will go see him next weekend...I will let you guys know what he would charge (if the price is right...)

Rick Kish of Mopar Essentials was selling NOS 3sp units for $85/ea. I belive they were for 76-77 Aspen/Volare? They did require extending the wires and putting your connector on it but it works great. Of course, its not correct but for functionality, who can beat it?

Tree frog,  Are you sure yours is bad?  That thin bare wire going to the park switch is normal. It usually has a loose coating over it.  Do you have the lower left screw, screwed in tight, on the switch panel?  Your wipers AND your heater control light will not work if that screw is out.  I have never had a wiper motor go out yet in any of my Mopars.

Hey Shelbydog..the only electrical items (besides reverse light!) that don't work in my car are wipers and heater fan. Do they have something in common? I'll ck the screw of course.

Chevy, was that screw missing? Does your blower motor come on when hooket to the battery?  Reverse light is a simple fix. What have you checked or changed to fix it?

Then of course if you just need a working unit they have new 2spds at Oreilly's for $43 and 3spds for $53.

I ran into a problem with my 3 speed wiper motor this week end driving the car in the rain. I went to car quest and got a remaunfacutred unit and it was an exact match and I payed $70.00 plus a $15.00 core. Part number is REB 40-362 I hope this helps.

this is good to know.... I looked up advanced auto and Oriely site was down... I never got any further with the locals...cool thanx guys
