If you have a part that is original unfaded paint have it color matched by hand.  They can use the scanner as a start but you would need someone to take it from there and make it perfect.  It can be done.  I have it done here that way.

http://www.ppgcarpaint.com/paints-bymake.php?Year=1970&AutoMakerId=27&ModelId=27  :2cents:

Iteresting how the color names are not original...the code is right, but the names are changed...  TT-1 is Ruby Red Poly they call it
TT1 signet royal red poly 71355
TT1 Comanche red poly (fg) 71393
TT1 dk red poly (fg) 71476

Now I understand different names, and from year to year the code my carry a different name but it can get a bit nuts trying to get the right shade...the fender that was repainted by the dealer was not correct then (painted in 70-73)

Well here is the result, the color is too orange (bright wise) compared to the rest of the car (paler).  I did plan on repainting the whole car someday so I am keepign the mixing info so I can match it up.
In any case I am a bit bummed.  I screwed up the first color coat by having it lay on too heavy.   I thought I was adjusting the fluid control to less when I was doing more and then it was too late.  :pullinghair: I was a bit rushed (trying to do this and get to work) and now I get a hlaf a$$ result.  I only have myself to blame.  I tried to blend it with the next 2 coats (the runs) as I had the gun dialed in spot on after that fiasco.  I also got some water (sweat) on the paint so that screwed me up also.   :walkaway:
I did say all along that I just wanted a Mopar to drive while I restored the Charger so I will have to be happy with the result.  I just want to get the engine back in so I can drive the darn thing.  A valuable lesson learned also so I can't complain. Anyway here are the pics:  :-\
