Suspect buyer
« on: May 26, 2006 - 02:15:58 AM »
Hi

Is there any possibility to know if this car is stolen or if there is some other problem with it.
It is "too good to be true", it is supposed to be in Spain, looks good in every picture etc etc

Is this car on E-Bay or something? Can you post more pictures, or a link to more pictures? If you don't live in Spain, then I would be very leery of dealing with someone outside the country without having someone check the car over for you first.

It is on the internet for sale....it's a very good looking T/A.
I do not live in Spain, and I don't know how much problem it would be in Spain to get it exported.

SCAM! An old scam at that. If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is.

I think the only way to get a deal nowadays is to find one in a barn, get lucky through contacts/friends/family, or being in the right place at the right time.  I don't think that their are too many "deals" for these cars on ebay/internet anymore.  Too many scams and idiots.

Have been in contact with the seller, and everything seems ok, haven't found anything suspect...other than price.
It's not that cheap, but for a T/A in excellent shape it's a steal. He asks 14000 EUR for it.
He has even called personally etc etc But to go abroad with that amount of money and do not know who is waiting in the
other end makes you a little bit nervous.
I also have the registration number, does anybody if there's any possibilities to sende this to some goverment or similar
in Spain to see if it's stolen or....?

This car was made the SAME day as my car, April 15, 1970 at Hamtramck. During that day/week a lot of interesting cars came out of that plant. A lot of T/A's, six packs, and some shaker cars (like mine). SO I wouldn't doubt the fender tag was real. The question is....IS the car itself real? Body and chassis stampings, broadcast sheets, T/A specific items intact, etc. INVESTIGATE. Hire someone to go out and inspect and authenticate the car if you can.

FYI according to the plate, the car is a Burnt Orange FK5 color. He needs to provide you with a copy of the registration/title as well as physical proof. I wouldn't bet on anything overseas being a actual car. You can do a lot with pictures and a fake name/account. Be careful!

Look at the Hamtramck Registry's lineup of cars produced that same week of April 15th, you will see a LOT of T/A's. My car isn't listed but one with the next serial number digit up is!

The question is....IS the car itself real?

I would tell him to print off a picture of something, hold it by the car, and take a picture of it to prove that he DOES have the car!  :picture:  :roflsmiley:

Instead of sending this guy money for a car he does not own, save yourself some effort and just get the money and light it on fire and watch it burn.

J/K  , but what we are trying to tell you here is that unless you or a trusted representive of you can physically touch this car, STAY AWAY from this deal.

As others have said, if it's too good to be true, then it's not.

Where in Europe do you live? I Went to the UK to get my 70 'cuda. And got it a hole lot cheaper then I would the US.
I got a 29k-31k car for about 23k, and shipping was cheaper as well, as I live in Norway (so I took the ferry from the UK to Norway).
But I would not hand over a penny before I saw the car. To many scam artist out there sadlly...
