that list bothers me.  as the owner of more then one non mopar car on that list, i have to say some of those times are bogus.  ive personally verified it, they aint even close to accurate.  just goes to show that a lot of what you pick up over the net or through magazines has to be taken with a grain of salt.

Well, lets see.

The cars on the list are supposed to be stock, right?
Were they all run at sea level or altitude corrected?
Tire technology has increased fantasticly since the 60's, 70's and even the 80's.

Frankly, there are too many variables to consider!

The ultimate test would be to have THOSE 50 cars at the same track, on the same perfect day with the same tire brand/air filters, fuel, ala Nascar! Preferably at a sea level track! Then compare the results.  :) I'm sure that list would look very different!  ;)

Most of those numbers were probably from magazine tests. It's a known fact that the factories had specific cars that were used for the magazine test cars, and it's a pretty sure bet those cars weren't just randomly pulled off the assembly line and sent out without any tweaking!

Heres something to think about though a website posted that the Yenko camaro was actually running high 11's.  I got the info at cccvette.com but like Charger said you've gotta take it with a grain of salt.

Well the thing I noticed on these cars (most of then) was the gearing, there not realy High racing gears (which were available) except a few of them like the 69 RR 6PACK  it had a 4.10 which I thought would be I deal for a quater mile run?

Lemonboy69 what all did they do to the 340 was it something the average joe can do or is it for those who have a few wads of cash burning a hole in their pockets.

Just wondering i don't get mopar muscle and I haven't found any places that sell it around here. Plus i sent off for it about 3 months ago and it still hasn't come. I'm definetly gonna call them soon.

What about the new Dodge Ram. Here is a small blurb about it in a new issue of Car Guide April, 2002:
Rampaging Ram
Building on its horsepower heavy R/T line-up, Dodge showed off a very muscular version of its Ram pickup at the Detroit auto show. Borrowing the 500 hp 8.3-liter V10 from the 2003 Viper, this fierce full-size hauler is capable of zero to 100 km/h in less than 5 seconds. With 500 lb-ft of torque on tap, the 24 inch wheels can pull this tasty truck through the quarter mile in an estimated 13 seconds. Set to bump Ford's F-150 Lightning off its performance truck pedestal, the SR/T-10 goes on sale in late fall.

Now thats a truck :o
