73 Cuda Title Question???????
« on: May 28, 2006 - 06:09:10 PM »
Title Question.......
I noticed that my Title shows that the car is a 72 but after cross referencing the VIN, it comes up as a 73. The Vin number on the title does match the car. The Vin starts with BS23H3B and looking in all of my books, this is a 73. Can anyone verify that this is in fact a 73? If it is, how hard is it to change the year on the title at the local DMV?
Thanks

It sounds like someone at the DMV typo'ed the title. It should be an easy fix for them, just take the title and the car in so they can see it if needed.

Thanks for the info Barry. The only thing that I am worried about is that they will want to give me a salvage title if I bring the car in because it is not running. Once you get a salvage title here in Colorado, it is next to impossible to get it back to a regular title. The engine is currently out of the car getting rebuilt and the car is being torn down for a restoration. Can they verify through the Vin that it is truly a 73 and correct the typo?
Thanks

Possibly, you would have to ask them. You could take a clear photo of the dash VIN with you and see what they say?

Is it s fire drill to get the title fixed? Can't wait until you get it back up and running, whenever that is?  :dunno:

Likely depends on the DMV, some have good people, some do not. I know a guy in AZ, his title had two of the last six digits transposed, he was in and out of the DMV with a new corrected title in minutes.

I guess I will give it a try with just the title and a picture of the vin to see what happens. If they ask me to tow the car in, I will leave it as a 72 for now and try again at another time.
Thanks for the help....
From what you are seeing with the Vin # that I posted, am I correct in saying that it's a 73 and not a 72?

I owned and sold a 70 GTX a few years ago and as far as I know the title still says that the car is a 69. The title has been that way since the car was new. It's really not important in the grand scheme of things. I don't think I would even worry about it. Sometimes it's better to just leave things alone.
