I'm  wondering, with a 15 sec exposure were you just guessing when lighting would strike and just started snapping off pics every 15 secs.?
I'm pretty good at photographing fireworks.  I have some great shots from teh shows at Disney and Epcot, of course our local show too.

Man rtg I still can't get over your pics  :clapping:  :worshippy
I added a little fill flash to yours (hope ya don't mind) It brought out some realy cool details.
Your timing putting this thread up is perfect.
We just had one of the worst rain/thunder lighning storms I think I've ever seen in my life. Driving home tonight, lightning was coming from everywhere, and of course I have my little Nikon 4300 with me. I took 5 small videos trying to capture anything(nearly crashed a half dozen times  :bricks1: ), but I was able to catch one bolt coming from the sky (off to the right). Nothing mind blowing, but I thought it was pretty cool.  :bigshades:

Nature's fury can still be beautiful. Great pic guys. Now, can someone either confirm or "bust" this "natural phenom." I was driving through Kansas when I lived out in Colorado and at a gas station I was talking to a couple middle aged guys who were discussing the storm of the previous night in that area. Anyway the topic of lighting came up and although neither had witnessed it they said they had been told by others that sometimes "out there" (Kansas) when a bolt would hit it would roll along the ground and resemble a ball of fire rolling like a bowling ball. Is this possible, or has anyone actually seen this hapen? Just curious ?

Perfectly natural. Ball lightning was one of science's mose annoying mysteries until about five years ago when they finally were able to re-produce it in a lab. Some say the lights at Brown Mountain NC are ball lightning too from a natural capacitor design in the bedrock. Very weird stuff...

Really cool pics!  I love thunder and lightning, so  long as it leaves my house alone!  (and the Challenger!)

it's odd when you think about the fact that lightning originates at ground level and then goes up !

Cool pics!  :clapping:

Look closely at the second picture, and you will see a face blowing out the lightning.

Eyes, nose, and mouth, with a gust of wind coming out of the mouth and then the lightning at the end of the breath.

Great shots   :cooldancing:
