If you have an MSD 6AL ignition box, its just a plug-in "plug" and you can select the rpm limit you want.

'Morning Cp and Happy New Year!

Question: any update on  part # / item availability for this particular MSD product?

I ask as, I just got off the phone with MSD's tech. dept and they quickly pointed me to MSD Part # 6425, for well over $200.

Then, when I went web-surf shopping, the majority of the posts that come up are customers complaining about the 6425 failing, crappy customer service, etc.

Only reason I am even going down this road is I installed a McLeod diaphragm clutch onto my '73 Chally's original 1"/23-spline trans and NON-original 440 (out a '70 GTX). And, I removed the over center spring. I am not racing, just street use with an occassional (very infrequent) line jump, etc.

Any insight appreciated!

msd 8728..works with oe electronic ignitions. about $120. comes with 3 rpm chips. can buy chips for different rpms if desired. the bulk of racers use MSD products without problems. personal experience, worked for a driving school with a fleet of over 100 race cars putting over 2 million miles per year on the fleet. used msd ignition, dist, and coils, with minimal problems. highly recommend them.

Wasn't there a thread on here recently about a new ignition box and I believe it had rev limiter capability built into it? Can't remember the name, though. Seek and ye shall find.....

Mallory 6AL CD digital box has the rev limiter built in and can be adjusted in 500rpm increments from 4500 to way over 8000. I believe it is around $200.
