My friend Dan has been working on his 70 Cuda project. This car will be pretty bad-ass when finished!
The entire floor has been cut out and the body was dropped 5 inches, and then the floor was replaced with a custom one. It has Viper 20 inch wheels, a cage, fuel cell, wheel tubs, all new suspension, etc....but whats really exciting is the 462 ci. HEMI thats waiting to be dropped in!! This car sits so low it's rediculous! you can just put your hand under the body...this will be the ride height when the HEMI is in too, it will not go any lower. The car is now being stripped of it's lame paint job, and then it will have the green re-shot to show quality. There will be a new black vinyl top installed too.......I'll keep this posted of prgress pics..... :burnout:

AARudy,
After that description, I'm so glad you posted pictures of the car.   That is scary low for me. If he just drag races the car, then fine... I would be too afraid to drive it on the street and hit a bump.

Not just railroads crossings . . but there will be tons of parking lots you won't get into with that ride height!  Cool still!

First off, are there any more pics of the process of lowering the car that low? I'd like to see the work if he has pictures and is willing to share.

Second, does anybody know anything about the BMW and Mercedes dynamic ride height adjustment systems? I've searched all over the net for information on how they work, but have always come up with nothing. I wonder if you could find a wrecked BMW and stip the mechanicals from it to do something similar with a custom 'Cuda.

At slower-than-highway speeds, the car would be raised up a few extra inches, but when you hit high speeds it lowers like the pictures above. If anybody has the skills to make the car that low with that much fabrication, I bet dynamic ride adjustment wouldn't be that much harder.

When I get my e-body, I plan to look into it. I'd love to have an auto lowering car. You might even be able to rig it to work on a switch too. Up down or auto adjusting based on your preference. The best of both worlds. A car with low clearance for awesome cornering but high clearance for parking and getting into sloped driveways without scraping the valance panel.

Thats a good question..! I have no idea...I wonder if some low-rider guys would have knowledge of that sort of thing...that would be my first guess.
I bet it could be done, but does'nt sound like it would be easy...
I have a pic of the floor here I will post, but none of teh work, I will ask Dan when I see him.

I had a Honda Accord that I sold last year. I could park it on the body and do all of the custom raise and lower the front/rear end.   I had the 4 corner Air-ride Struts, 4 goldvalve solenoids, a 1/2HP compressor with a 12 gallon air tank in the trunk.     They now sell a custom donut-cylinder air bag with a shock through the middle, As my air struts did not incorporate a shock.  I took it to the Nopi Nationals 3 years in a row before I sold it.   An E-body could be setup the same way by putting the new airbag-shocks on all 4 corners and running a bar suspension on the rear such as a 4-link or ladder bar.

Any Ricer Magazines show the vendors that sell these kits,  All around $2500.

Very nice but it is a bit too low.  My biggest question is this, will the exhaust hang any lower than the body of the car, if so then forget about it.  Hopefully he planned ahead for that.

if you look at the pic of the undercarriage it is cut out for the exhaust...I guess everything was installed and mocked up first, including the HEMI...he did not seem that worried.... :ylsuper:

Cool! When does it go in for it's paint and what transmission are you running?
Gear Vendors? I see the auto pedals, this could be changed mind you.....Sick Fish ran a GV unit.
