73 Charger in storage
« on: June 04, 2006 - 02:27:33 PM »
I've been driving by this Charger forever, and I FINALLY stopped.
It's in a storage facility. I know it's been there for at least 15 years, if not more.  :1zhelp:
It's a 340 car, looks to be in fairly decent shape believe it, or not.
I actually ended up getting stuck inside the storage facility for a while   :eek7: :1zhelp: but thats a story for another day  :misbehaving:
Yes I know it not tremendously rare, but it's still a Mopar, and still worth it in my eyes.

That is truely sad. From the looks of the tires, I can tell you it has been there at least 10 years. It makes you wonder what happened to it to cause them to park it, and WHY they don't care to come back to fix it!!!  :crying: It's not like it would have been a total piece of crap back then.  :dunno: Are they paying storage on something they don't even love???  :clueless: I don't get it, but I've seen it before.  :swear:

Is he looking for a 3rd gen. Charger project? I am going to stop by again when someone is there, and see what the deal is with this Charger. If there's any chance of snagging it for short $$ I'll gladly pass it along to you guys. I've got too many projects at the present moment myself.

It looks like that Charger is slowly sinking into the ground and about to become a part of mother earth again.

I used to work for a storage facility and I saw this type of thing constantly. Guy buys (or already has) a car that needs some work and for whatever reason he has to put it in storage for "a while." It just never seems to dawn on them that $50 or $100 bucks a month adds up to a lot of money that over three or four years could go a long way toward fixing the car.

On the plus side, I did get my friend Chris a 66 Mustang fastback for $100 when the owner abandoned it. It was definitely a project car, but he had fun with it.

That's how I got my '74 440 Charger at one of those auctions

Nobody bid on it so I got it for the minimum $25 plus a $27.50 doc fee.

It runs but the body is pretty bad,, nice interior though

flat hood  :eek4:

Well, I stopped by and inquired about the charger at the front desk. The lady there said I could leave my number, and that's about it. That was about three weeks ago. Not a word heard on this end.
I didn't really catch a good vibe off this "lady"  :icon16:  so I will be going back there soon to try and talk to a normal human being  :grinyes: to see if I can get anywhere then. I'll keep ya posted

I know of a 73 charger in Missouri for sale.  It has orignal paint but it has pretty bad rust in the quarters,  Original interior is beautiful.  I can send pics or post a for sale ad.  Let me know.  It's a 318 car with original engine.  904.

Keep us updated, R/T!

I don't know too much about these Chargers but does it have a flat hood or does it have some sort of "power bulge" hood?

Also, those exhaust tips (in the 6th pic) don't look like plain jane tips.  They look like the type that came on Road Runners/GTXs or something.  Maybe added by someone?  I dunno...  :dunno:

Does look like a fun project.  I always liked this style.

Keep at it, maybe put a number in the cars windshield or something in a plastic baggie so the ink doesn't run.
