Fuel Sending Unit Repair '71 Challenger
« on: June 04, 2006 - 10:42:23 PM »
Fuel gauge hasn't worked since I got the car. Fixed it today but Dodge service manual not specific enough about removal of unit so I thought I'd put it in here. Remove left side rear heat shield by tank. Remove ground strap and sender wire. Rotate sender unit locking ring anti-clockwise (should have proper tool but there was no problem without it). Remove unit and service as required. My problem was a holed float which I soldered up to make air tight again. Reassemble in reverse order checking that float arm is able to move vertically.
