Car Researching
« on: May 03, 2002 - 03:50:32 AM »
I was wondering what are some the ways that you guys have found about each of your respective cars' history. Stuff like the dealership where it was sold, previous owners (If thats legal, I don't know if that involves privacy laws). I don't want to talk to any of them, I would just like to know who has sat in that seat before me. I have 1 complete broadcast sheet (attached pic), 1 partial sheet, .....that I just noticed while typing this out is for a totally different Challenger.

It was so far gone, that I never even bothered to really look at it after I pulled the pieces out of the rear seatback. I just "reassembled" it as best I could & put it in the binder on one of those pages where there is a stiff piece of paper with a plastic covering.

Anyway back to what I was asking, I have 1 Broadcast sheet, obviously the fender tag & the story from the last owner. I do not have the window sticker. I am asking for any advice on how I can research my cars history, & good places to start.

Also, If you own a Challenger with the VIN JH23G1B435289, let me know, I have your, whats left of your that is, broadcast sheet. I will post a picture of what is left of it also.

2nd sheet: If this is yours, let me know, I'm hoping on random events to have the owner randomly see this.
VIN JH23G1B435289  It was in the springs of my rear seat, & I just assumed it was the second sheet for my car, I never bothered to check, because the other one is in very good shape & everything is completely legible there, so I always looked at that one if I was checking codes. Anyway, I hope the owner of a 1971 318 Dodge Challenger built in Hamtramck (I think that's spelled right) sees this.

again that is : VIN JH23G1B435289

Rechurch, that can be a big endevor but well worth the time and effort.  In my situation in getting my Charger documented my best sourse of help and info came from, get this, the State Police from the state in which I purchased the car. I mailed a letter to the state commander giving him the vin # and an explanation of what I was doing. In a matter of about six weeks I had the original owners name and even the dealership where the car was purchased. They will not give address or phone numbers but I did get the original owners name. Hey they even phoned me at home a couple of times, with good news even! Good Luck
