The people that do these things to our cars are NOT car people. They don't know what all the fuss is about.

:iagree: somewhat.Mostly they are non-car people and don`t know any better but I have seen car people lean on and touch other cars at shows. There are also many "LOOK BUT DON`T TOUCH" signs on lots of cars so unless they can`t read have no excuse. My buddy and I were at the drags on a Friday street night and a guy talking to my friend leans against his quarter panel. My friend didn`t say anything to him as it wasn`t a big deal to him but also b/c he had sprayed this clear sticky stuff called burnout guard all over his quarter which stuck to the guys jeans along with some rubber and probably got it on his own seat, maybe taught him a lesson!  :roflsmiley:

Not at a show but....
I've owned my Challey since 1983 - bought it my freshman year in college. I'd just spent my whole year's savings to get her painted and drove to the mall with a friend of mine.  We parked about 50 spaces from any other car out on the edge of the parking lot.  We're in the mall maybe an hour and come back and my car's still about 50 spaces away from every car except one.  A brand new Mercedes is parked right beside her, literally within a foot of my car on the passenger side.  There is a big dent in my door with paint chipped off and matching, freshly transferred paint is on the Mercedes.  :22yikes: :stomp: :pullinghair:

My response to that discovery was the only truly juvenile, destructive thing I've ever knowingly done in my life.  In hindsight I probably wouldn’t do it again, but at the time it seemed like the only proper response a broke teenager could give….  I keyed their brand new luxury car from fender to quarter while my friend popped off the hubcaps, which we drove over on the way out.  Hopefully, the Mercedes owner was able to put cause and effect together when he came back to his ride and perhaps gained a little respect for other peoples property.  Maybe not, but I sure felt better about giving the lesson.

I've never understood the need people have to park so close.Everytime I leave my car on the opposite end of a parking lot ,sure enough someone just has to park next to me.No dings yet though ,knock on wood.I likely would have done the same thing in your situation ,it's a little extreme but that guy needed it.Score one for our side  :P

Well, it's nice to know I'm not the only person with the "park far away from everyone" disease! I have a black ram 1500 and to me, nothing makes a black vehicle look worse then door dings. I hate them.  It doesn't help that the truck is so huge that it's close to both sides of the lines when you park!   My kids laugh at me, but I just tell them "it's good exercise!".

Door dings are one reason my cuda is not a daily driver as I have enough damage on the Neon and the Jeep already! Is it me or do they make parking spaces a lot smaller than they used to?Seems you can barely have enough room to get out of a regular size vehicle nowadays.
