[Prowler Orange Challenger]

Guys/Gals hello once again. Okay just a crazy thought here but, I was wondering what everyone thinks about them? Also from a collector's standpoint where do you see the value on these cars going? Do you think if a person was to buy one eventually then they would go up or even if you put a little mileage on them driving to cruises and cars shows then do you think they would hold value or even appreciate in value? Just looking for some feedback and opinions here. I'll be coming into a little money and hopefully, if they take their time on things then I can have the Challenger paid off have my credit card paid in the soon future. Thank you.

not sure , even supercharged they are under powered , they are certainly collectable But may not increase substantially in price due to medocre performance

Ditto - considering the looks, the prowlers performance is a joke. Its an NA V6 with no special mods - an feels the part. Also the handling is pretty floaty as well. I get the impression the car was not only designed to compliment the 30s, but actually be sold to people born in the 30s.

To make it perform requires a lot of modifcation. Your best bet for performance is the viper, or if you like classy and collectable the new Challenger. You could alwyas go kit and tuner car two for either reason.

I might get a prowler for my DD once the price drops below $20k, until then it makes for a great poster.

So far, prowlers have proven to be a rather good choice for a newer collectible car. The resale on them in pretty good and they have been floating around 30k for the last 4 years and I doubt that they will ever drop much farther than that. Performance isnt that bad if you get the 253 HP version, with the 3.5 HO they are capable of 14s and with a little nitrous or a supercharger then 13s are easily in reach. The prowler wasnt designed to be a performance vehicle, but rather a wicked looking ride that turns heads. Also, the prowler has a lot of aftermarket support....they make hard tops, roll pans, plenty of chrome parts, polished suspension parts, bumper deletes, and even stroker engines. If I were looking for a newer mopar, then the prowler would be right at the top of my list (right next to 96-02 Viper GTS')

Prowlers are great niche market cars.     They were built to draw attention because of their great looks.   The value could move north at some point in time, but at least they aren't moving south.  I like looking at them, they look great.  But being the power junkie that I am, I don't see me buying one....

d**n right.  Easily the best looking car from the 90s, im my not so humble opinion.  I'd love to have one someday.


And Bonkers, does that mean that a 318 Challenger is not a cool car, since a stock civic can blister them as well?  Life is not just about going fast.  Hopefully you realize that someday.


Besides, you could always drop in a different engine with enough cutting.

the 253hp Prowler is somewhat under powered, but it still runs the same quarter mile times as a 290hp 340 SIX PAK.....Prowlers only weigh 28-2900 lbs.....

market value has bottomed out and has actually seemed to increase this last year, nice ones are consistently bringing over $30K and some colors are bring closer to $40K....it has been 10 years since production began and nearly 5 since the last one rolled down the line, so they could start appreciating even more in the not to distant future...there were over 11K made, so they might never be really rare, but the novelty will go a long way in the collector car market...

I have owned 9 of them in the last 7 years(still have 3) and they are a blast to drive.....lotsa looks, lotsa comments....very nice daily drivers and mine have been pretty much trouble free...

Yelo 2000, it has just a little over 200 miles on the odometer...it just never was driven much...

Thanks everyone. Honestly, I really don't care about going fast as much as I used to. I don't care about racing no Civics. Heck, I won't even challenge them in the Challenger. They might be underpowered but, they can't no worse acceleration wise than a 125hp Dakota Vert. I am 25 and besides muscle cars I also happen to have an appreciation for old street rods and rat rods. I've seen some of the ones with more miles and a less rare color ask about $31k. To me I don't have a problem with buying a cheaper one. Some of you all might think I'm crazy but, I'm single, no wife or g/f or kids so I might as well enjoy things like this right? Anyways, thanks again and if anyone else has anything else to add please let me know.

Very true.  There's a sweet black one for sale near me.  Don't know how much but it has some of the nicest metallic blue fade into purple flames you've ever seen.

The other thing I like is they have a manual convertible top like the Dakota Convertibles which doesn't bother me. Easy to put down and up.

Nice little car for cruising, drives very well, very stiffly sprung in the rear though. Also has no trunk space. I would the think the first one would be desireable but I would prefer the later Chrysler versions after plymouth had gone as these are rarer.
