quartz movement conversion

I just had my clock converted to quartz movement and in reading instructions about conversion here....

It says to align all hands to 12 o'clock I guess before applying power.  AutoInstruments returned my clock with hands pointing everywhere...is it important to have them all at 12 o'clock?

Autoinstruments converted my clock about 5 yrs ago, and I don't remember anything special about the hands. Worked fine ever since

I mentioned this in your other post today. I believe they start all hands at 12, just for alignment purposes. You don't want your hour hand in between numbers if the minute hand is at 12, for example. That's the only reason I could see for that.

Yes, one might think that if the clock is geared on a 1:60:60 (hour: minute: second) it wouldnt make any difference. Unless you do an initial positioning, 12:00 or 6:00 or some on-the-hour position, you could end up with a clock whose hands would be off consistently.     

Of course if all hands aling at 12:00 you should be good to go
