Triple black 4 speed AAR Project
« on: June 08, 2006 - 04:27:07 PM »
I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do with the AAR project I just found. It is a black 4 speed - no drive train and currently has a Vette rearend on it. Many of the parts were chromed and other than the body being REAL nice it is a major project way beyond any thing I might under take without a lot of help. Any ideas or suggestions welcome. The car has sat in its present condition since 91 and only has 25k miles on it. Thanks.

Do you think this is beyond what you could handle? It would be for me, so I understand.  :grinyes: It's too bad the drive-train is AWOL. That hurts. Still, an original AAR is worth something. Do you have a build sheet? Are you looking to get it back to almost original, or do you want to sell it?

The guy I bought the car from said he thinks he has the broadcast sheet and will get it to me. He did give me the fender tags, clear title from 79 when he bought it , the door sticker, and vin tag.And the vin # is stamped on the cowl although the cowl has a cover welded on it. the radiator support is gone - part of the mods. The seller was going to turn it into a Pro touring show car. Supposedly it is one of only 3 triple black 4 speed AArs. At this point I do not know what I want to do with it, but the car needs to be saved. Thanks.

We are trying to track down the drive train. Supposedly the seller sold it to partially finance his project. Here are some more pics.

4 speed? It is coded for an automatic, it is one of three known with TX9 TX9 H6X9 and the auto though.

8 4-speed AARs with the same color combination are known, as well as 11 with the black and white interior, they are all automatics so far.

T/Ake care,
Barry

Definately be an awesome car back to stock.   Since non numbers car, do you have any interest in finishing it stock appearing on the outside and leave the G machine type mods?   Do you actually own the car??  Or just contemplating the purchase??

Yes for better or worse I own her. She is sitting in my garage. And I think the car needs to be brought back to stock.

Can you post an underhood pic of the frame and rack. It looks interesting.  Looks like a Jag based rear in it. Thanks.

I will get the pic you asked for later. The hood hinges are off the car. They were chromed like the other parts in this pic.

I would love to tackle that project but it`s worth more than I could afford, needs to be restored to stock though as a black on black AAR is an awesome combo!

I now understand the dilema. It really needs to go back to stock.. and it's a BIG dollar car. Documented Black AAR 4-spds..One of the nicest / meanest looking cars ever made IMO
