Okay, it's a given my Challenger is a 5 at best but she's my project and that's that. What little history i've been able to dig up is pretty cool so i'm ok with how it's turned into a long term process.
There is a cement pad in my backyard, all that's left after Hurricane Opal - before i bought the house - dropped an oak on the garage that
used to be there. Shortly after moving in, the Challenger found it's way on the pad up on jackstands under a tarp. Always covered, no one complained and fewer even noticed it...until it was decided that June is cleanup month for my Congressional District.
Last friday i came home after a couple of days working out of town and was greeted by this
NOTICE which had been posted on a stake next to my mailbox since thursday afternoon. The very next day, saturday, i received the official letter in the mail. Don't let 'em fool you, government can move with blinding speed every so often.
I'll be the first to say i agree with them...technically, so i called the number, and asked Mr. Bracy how i could make amends. "The vehicle must be on the ground, with a current tag" and he would be by on the 12th to verify. He was very pleasant and i said the vehicle would be in compliance when he next comes by.
Optimist that i am, there is a cool ending to this. Not only is the Challenger on the ground for the first time in 10 years, but i took a chance and asked the lady at the DMV if i could purchase an Alabama Vintage Vehicle tag with 440 on it - and got it
All's well that ends well
I know...
